Noah's POV

Willow was breathing softly in front of me. I opened my eyes and just listened to her breath. What she said about me getting her into bed last night and tonight, I knew she was joking, but I keep wishing it was in that way. She was so beautiful. I closed my eyes and held her a little tighter. She let out a small whimper and I opened my eyes. She let out another, louder this time. She was having a nightmare. Her head jerked around and she was crying out. I slipped away from her and went to the door. Jerold was at the door.

“Noah, what’s wrong?” Jerold asked me.

                “It’s Willow, she’s having a nightmare, what should I do?” I asked.

“Just be there when she wakes up,” Jerold replied.

“I can do that,” I nodded. I shut the door and turned around. Willow was thrashing around in the bed. I walked over to the bed and sat next to her. She let out a cry and then sat up quickly. She had tears streaming down her face and she looked at me. I grabbed onto her waist and pulled her into my lap.

“Shh, it’s all over,” I whispered hugging her. “Do you want to tell me about it?” I asked her.

“You asked me why I was here.” I said.

                “Yeah, I did,” I nodded.

“My parents died in a fire when I was twelve. The King and Queen took me in, raised me, and cared for me. I could have saved them that night. If I had more control over my power I could have saved them. I’ve dreamed about them every night since I’ve been back. It kills me,” She whispered.

“Willow, don’t blame yourself for that. You were twelve,” I told her.

“But I was strong enough to put it out if I was quicker.”

“Look at me Willow,” I said seriously. She looked up at me and I brushed her hair away to look into her eyes. “It is not your fault. If you keep blaming yourself for this you will have those nightmares forever. If you believe it wasn’t your fault that the fire started, the nightmares will stop,” I told her.

“Alright, I’ll work on that,” she nodded. “What time is it?” she asked.

                “Um, almost four,” I replied.

“How long was I asleep for?” she asked.

                “Around four hours,” I shrugged.

“Do you still want to go out for dinner?” she asked.

                “Sure, where to?” I asked.

“There’s a nice restaurant at the end of the city, it’s kinda like a safe haven for everyone. No one will attack you for being a shifter. It’s really nice.” She replied.

“Sounds like fun, what kind of restaurant is it?” I asked.

                “Bar slash restaurant,” she laughed.

                “Sounds like fun,” I smiled.

                “It is,” she smiled.

“So, what do you want to do until then?” I asked.

“I want a little snack so I’m not dying.” She said. “I’ll go get us some food,” she said slowly getting out of my lap. “What do you want?” she asked.

“What do you have?” he asked.

“I’m not sure, do you want to come with me?” she asked.

“I’d love too,” I smiled standing. We walked to the door and she peeked outside.

“Jerold. Where is everyone?” she asked.

“I have no clue,” I heard Jerold reply.

“Shit. Well we’re just going to have to wing it.” She sighed. She grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the room. I shut the door and she let go of me. We walked down the hall and over to the stairs. “I’ll go down first and then call you if it’s clear,” she said and practically ran down the stairs. “Clear,” she said after a minute. I went down the stairs at a normal pace and when I reached the bottom I saw Willow looking behind me.

                “What, what’s wrong?” I asked.

“Unclear,” she whispered grabbing my shirt and pulling me into a closet. It was a coat closet. “I’m sorry,” she breathed on my neck.

“It’s fine,” I whispered bending next to her ear. I heard her suck in a tight breath and move away. She knocked against something and started to fall. I reached out and tried to grab her but just leaned too far and fell as well. When everything else stopped falling Willow was under me while I was straddling her. We stared at each other for a moment and then I was up off of her, helping her up.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered at her.

“It’s not your fault.,” she replied. She opened the door a crack and looked out. “Clear again,” she said and pulled me out. We made to the kitchen without having to hide again. Willow went in first and then motioned me in.

“Wow, this kitchen is huge,” I muttered looking around.

“I know,” she nodded. She brought me to the pantry and we looked for something good.

“What did you find?” I asked after a while.

“Nothing good, we really need to go shopping,” she sighed. We headed back to her room in disappointment.
