Willow’s POV

“Ugh,” I groaned opening my eyes. “Why the hell is it so bright,” I said, annoyed.

“Good morning sleeping beauty,” Noah whispered.

“Why are you whispering?” I asked squinting over him.

“Because if I talk normally it’ll be too loud,” Noah said in a regular voice. I cringed back and covered my ears. “Here’s some aspirin and water,” Noah whispered.

“Thank you,” I muttered taking both. I put the aspirin in my mouth and then swallowed it with water. “Did anyone see me last night?” I asked.

“Just some guards,” Noah whispered.

“I need some coffee,” I said to myself. I swung myself out of bed and stood up slowly. The world spun around me and I grabbed the bed post. “What crazy things did I do?” I asked Noah, who had come over to help me.

“You just passed out,” Noah shrugged. He helped me walk to the door and open it.

“Can you go grab my sunglasses, they should be on my desk,” I told him. Jerold, who was at the door smiled at me.

“Good morning,” he said loudly.

“Shhh,” I said covering my ears. “The guards are all going to give me crap for this aren’t they?” I asked Jerold.

“Yep,” Jerold said in a loud voice.

“Softly Jerold, speak softly,” I said looking at him.

“Sorry,” he whispered.

“Better,” I nodded. Noah arrived with my glasses and handed them to me. I put them on and stepped out of my room.

“Willow, where are you going?” Jerold asked.

“Breakfast,” I replied.

“Oh god, I’ll come with you,” Jerold said joining me at my slow pace.

“You don’t have to,” I said in a tired voice.

“You’re going to fall down the stairs if I don’t,” Jerold replied.

“Am not,” I replied. We got to the top step and as I stepped down I slipped. Jerold caught me with a smile and steadied me.

“How much did you have? I have never seen you drunk,” Jerold said.

“I’m not drunk still, just hung over,” I said looking at him. “And the reason you’ve never seem me drunk is last time you saw me I was eighteen, I couldn’t even drink then,” I said looking at Jerold. We walked together down the stairs and then we turned to head down the hall.

“So how much did you have?” Jerold asked.

“A lot, mostly shots, but all of the drinks were really strong in alcohol,” I said. We made it to the dining room and waited at the door.

“Should I go in or just go visit Jacque in the kitchen?” I asked.

“It’s up to you,” Jerold shrugged.

“Hey Willow!” Poppy said coming up behind me and Jerold. I tried as hard as I could not to cringe.

“Hi Poppy,” I said glancing at her.

“Are you joining us for breakfast?” she asked with a smile.

“I guess I am now,” I sighed. “Onward Jerold,” I said pointing to the door. Jerold muttered something but helped me.

“What’s up with you today?” Poppy asked.

“I’m feeling a little under the weather,” I answered. Jerold let out a laugh and I hit him in the stomach. We walked in and everyone watched me.

“Good morning Willow,” the queen said. I nodded and focused on looking down. I had taken off my sunglasses to not be rude and didn’t want them to see me. The coffee came and I didn’t even bother putting anything in it I just gulped it down.

“Oh my god,” David said staring at me.

“What?” Poppy asked.

“You have a hangover,” David chuckled.

“Do not,” I muttered. “Can you please talk softer though?” I asked.

“You’re so hung over,” David laughed.

“Shut up David,” I replied.

“Willow?” the king asked.

“Yeah?” I answered.

“Are you hung over?” he asked.

“Just a tiny bit,” I replied.

“I knew it,” David muttered.

“Can we talk about something else?” I asked.

“Sure,” David nodded. The Dragons’ joined us in the dining room and we avoided the fact that I was hung over. I drank about three more cups of coffee and ate just a small amount of food. When everyone was done I started to stand. Jerold was there beside me helping me up.

“Willow, can I have a minute?” Cal asked standing.

“No,” I said.

“Willow,” the king warned.

“I’m sorry, but I have another obligation. I don’t have any time,” I said as Jerold and I headed towards the door. We got through the door and I told Jerold to go get some food from Jacque and bring it to my room. I walked slowly up the stairs and back to my room.

“How are you feeling?” Noah asked looking up from the bed. He had one of my books in his hands and was reading it.

“Like my head was slammed into a train. Hangovers are a bitch,” I answered. I walked right over to the bed and dropped onto it. Noah let out a laugh and closed the book. Jerold knocked on the door and then came in. He handed Noah the tray and then looked at me.

“Willow, I know you’re in a bad mood and you’re hung over but we have another fire, we need you to be on the rescue team, I’m sorry, I know you’re planning your birthday and everything,” Jerold said.

“Alright, I’ll be down in five. Get a cup of coffee ready for me. Don’t put anything in it. I want it black,” I told him getting out of the bed. I went into my closet and changed into black sweats and a black t-shirt. I left the room and I went to the bed. “Don’t let anyone in, I’ll be home soon,” I said.

“Alright, hey, be careful,” Noah said standing and walking over to me.

“I’m a fucking ninja, they won’t know what hit them,” I smiled.

“Yeah, a hung over ninja, be careful,” Noah said.

“I will,” I nodded. I left and I walked down the stairs. Jerold handed me my coffee and I took a sip. I coughed but took another sip. I walked out and got onto my horse. I finished my coffee and handed it to a maid. Jerold, three other guards and I galloped away into the woods at a hurried pace. Jerold led the way as we weaved through the woods.

“Stop,” Jerold shouted at the shifters stopping his horse. I looked around and saw mothers holding their children people crying and the houses on fire. I got off the horse and walked around. I found a leaking pipe and pulled out the water to stop the fires. I made it start raining and looked around. I put out the fires and headed back to my horse. The three other guards were already leading the survivors to the nearest town and Jerold was about to go help when someone grabbed me.
