Chapter 20- Luring the Bait

Ryu went towards the heart of the city. Shigemi wondered through the streets, cautiously stepping on each stone from the street. Ryu looked at her oddly. "Why do you do that?" Shigemi stopped abruptly. "Some of these stones summon fiends"

Suddenly, lycanthrope and fiends appeared from the ground. Shigemi cursed, grabbing the pair of flails from her side. "There's too many for me to use Kaida's scythe...."

Ryu laughed in his mind, knowing that 50 enemies could be killed off easily by Kaida's scythe. He took out his Dragon Sword and charged at the incoming creatures.

Rin was up in the sky. Her bat wings stood out in the bright, mid-day sky. She quickly recognized Kaida's scythe, tucked safely on Shigemi's side. She chuckled, a bit surprised at the fact the girl was still alive after being slashed by Volf.

She sighed softly and summoned giant, pink fiends. They were ugly and had claws everywhere. They're senseless and have no form of intelligence... to put it simply... they kill anything in their path.

When she dropped a fiend towards the Dragon Ninja, Rin flew off towards Volf's lair. She knew Volf is a strong fiend. But, she wasn't sure if his strength is enough to surpass Ryu's.

A quick stab through the heart brought down the last werewolf. Ryu cleaned off his blade on his leg. "You alright, Shigemi?" Shigemi nodded. "Yes, Master Ryu.... wait... I sense something..."

She grabbed a kunai blade and shot it above Ryu's head. It sunk into the chest of a giant, pink fiend. Ryu ran to it and severed off its head. "Thanks." Shigemi wiped the blood off her flails. "No problem. If we keep following the road, we can get to the front of the lair."

"Why not find another way?"

"I did that... there are other creatures surrounding the waterways. I took that route instead of the front door... used most of my healing potions because of it."

"Alright. Just lycanthrope at the front door."

"That and those fiends."

"Perfect."

Rin landed at a window in front of Volf's throne. She sighed in disappointment. "To think the Dragon Ninja is dumb enough to go through the front door..."

Volf chuckled. "It's easier than the aqueduct and the cellar. There are creatures there.... well... were creatures there. That girl killed them all."

"Seems like she's a nuisance as well.... shall I end her?"

"Do what you wish. If you're after the boy, then that girl will be after you as well."

"Why do all the girls go after him I wonder..."

Volf snickered. "Why don't you ask the girl, whose body you're borrowing?... when will you begin the ritual anyway?"

"At the full moon.... I still need to revive the Ruler of Flames...."
