See The Comet

I lie here in our place with the bottle of bourbon pouring away

The false peace gone as it no longer numbs me

There's a touch of sadness in my world and I know where I want to be

I want my place to be where I used to be so secure

Don't you see the judgment in their eyes as this angel burns her wings

The stars fade away to hide me away from the light that blinds me

It's the comet I'd come to believe I'd never see again

My eyes close as I let the tear drops fall and the sky becomes blurred

I let myself see the past for what it was

Something I had to learn to live through to become the fragile rose with a strong heart

The cigarette in my hand burns down and burns me with no pain

It's the comet and it's beauty that fills me with hope

It's the feel of an arm around me drawing me closer

I won't open my eyes as the dream I had wanted to have so many times reveals itself

All I can say as I feel the breath against me is that I am the wood and you're the flame

I am consumed by you but I gain my beauty and strength with you near

Did you know that even now when I'm sure I'm dreaming

It's as if the comet has brought my dreams to life

I swear as I begin to open my eyes and feel the burn on my skin and the cold liquor pool beneath me

That you're here I can feel your strength around me

I hear your voice against my ear whispering for me to open my eyes

'See the Comet... see it burning bright... it's like your strength it's brighter and stronger than anything'

How do I resist your words, how can I say no to your request?

Opening my eyes I look into your eyes and see the truth

I am here and as I look to the skies the comet moves through the darkness shining as fiercely as the tears on my cheeks

Heaven and Hell blend together as the stars return to fill in the darkness

Without one there wouldn't be the other and without you there wouldn't be me

You are the heaven within my hell

See the Comet?

That's my strength and belief in the future shining brightly

Closing my eyes I let the sleep I've missed creep over me and find the calm

Thank you for coming home to me thank you for the forgiveness
