Chapter Seven:
Cassidy hurried back to her homeroom just as the warning bell started ringing. She was still halfway across the campus and she looked down at the cute pink ballet flats she had chosen to wear this morning. She cursed herself for a stupid but admittedly adorable shoe choice. The final bell started to ring and Cassidy was practically running to reach the class on time.
She rounded a corner and saw Ms. Edwards talking to another teacher. Cassidy slowed down and slipped into the classroom quietly.
Lola and Cale were still sitting at the back of the classroom. Cale had taken her seat and Cassidy walked up to them unnoticed. Cale was talking to a guy in front of him and Cassidy shoved on his shoulder.
She let out a groan. It was pointless. Cale was like a brick wall. Lola giggled when she saw Cassidy attempting to move her brother.
Cale turned when he heard Lola giggle. He saw Cassidy and just smiled.
“You’re in my seat,” Cassidy said trying to be cold.
Cale just shrugged. “I don’t see your name anywhere,” He said leaning back and crossing his arms.
Cassidy glared at him before pressing her palms flat against his shoulder. She dug her feet pathetically into the ground, in an attempt to stop them from sliding against the laminate.
“Are you done?” Cale asked. Lola giggled harder. She was pressing a hand against her mouth and her face was a light pink.
“No,” Cassidy said, but she stopped pushing her brother. Lola gave her a weird grin and Cassidy turned around and sat down on Cale’s lap.
“Where did you disappear to at lunch?” Cassidy asked Lola casually.
“Me disappear?” Lola asked. “What about you?”
“I was dragged around by a retarded cop,” Cassidy said. “What’s your excuse?”
Lola blushed and mumbled something under her breath.
“We looked for you,” Cale said to change the subject partially. “Where did you go?” His voice was muffled slightly because Cassidy’s hair was pressed in his face.
“Henry helped me ditch Officer Retard and then we had lunch outside,” Cassidy said calmly.
Cale pushed her off his lap and moved out of her seat. Cassidy smiled brightly at him and reclaimed her desk. “Henry?” Lola gasped.
Cassidy nodded smugly. “Yep,” She replied popping the ‘p’ sound. “Henry Smart and I had lunch together.”
Lola sighed wistfully. You are so lucky,” She said. “Jenn is going to flip when she hears this.”
“I know.” Cassidy said with a giggle.
Cale rolled his eyes and looked at the guys in front of them. “Girls,” He mumbled under his breath.
“So I spilled,” Cassidy said leaning closer to Lola and resting her arms on her desk. She propped her elbows up and placed her chin on her fists. “You spill,” She said.
Lola pressed her lips together and her cheeks turned pink. “Well,” She said drawing the word out. “Your brother and I-“
Cassidy held up a hand to stop her. “I don’t think I want to know how that sentence ends,” She said with a grimace. She closed her eyes and shook her head around.
“What are you doing?” Lola asked.
Cassidy opened one eye. “Trying to rid myself of that lovely mental picture you placed in my brain. I don’t think I can ever look at you or Cale the same again,” She added with a shudder.
“Oh!” Lola gasped and her eyes lit up. She slapped a hand over her mouth. “Oh, God no,” She said her face a mask of horror. “I didn’t realize,” She started. “That’s not what it was supposed to sound like,” she wailed burying her face in her hands.
Cassidy gave her a completely confused look. “Explain yourself girl,” She ordered.
Lola nodded. “Cass,” She said. “Believe me, your brother is cute and all and we were flirting but I would never hook up with him. Maybe a drunken mistake at a party but because he’s your brother that’s just weird.”
Cassidy sighed in relief. “Oh thank you,” She said.
“I heard my name,” Cale cut in.
“And I heard Lola say she would never purposely hook up with you,” The guy Cale had been talking too chimed in helpfully.
Lola’s face turned pink. She looked down at the desk intent on studying the garbled nonsense somebody had decided to carve.
“Lola,” Cale gasped pressing a hand to his chest. “Words hurt you know,” He said.
“So do punches,” Cassidy said. She punched Cale in the arm.
“Oww,” Cale pouted.
“Hush,” Cassidy said.
“And thank you, Chase, for that helpful comment,” Lola said with a glare at the guy Cale had been talking to, whom Cassidy assumed was Chase.
“No problem, Lola,” Chase said with a wink and a smirk.
Lola rolled her eyes.
Chase and Cale turned away from the girls and Cassidy overheard the words football. Of course Cale was getting filled in on the team already.
“So what really happened at lunch?” Cassidy asked Lola.
Lola giggled. “We couldn’t find you and so instead of wandering around like losers, Cale managed to get in Miranda’s good graces.”
“Miranda?” Cassidy asked. The name sounded familiar but she couldn’t place it.
“She’s the bitchy blonde,” Lola said.
Cassidy nodded and motioned that Lola should continue.
“Well anyways, so Miranda was totally drooling over your brother and Cale was taking advantage of it and we sat at the good table during lunch. Then when Henry walked by with you Miranda started to badmouth you and Cale stood up for you. All the cheerleaders suddenly started talking like you’re their new best friend.”
“Oh wow,” Cassidy said.
“It was hilarious,” Lola said.
“What’s hilarious is that Ms. Reynolds here wrote the suicide note that was found on Alexandria’s bed.” Cassidy turned her face to see Officer Clyde standing so close to her that she could feel his hot breath fan across her face.
“And what else is hilarious is that Ms. Reynolds is now under arrest.”

Not a super long chapter but I realised I haven't updated in over a month *gasps* and I thought: That cannot be right! Surely I've been a much nicer person than that. But I was wrong. And I am mean. Because I will post this next chapter if I can get five reads and a vote.
I really don't think that's a lot. it's five (5) READS and one (1) VOTE. So please do this for a next fantabulous chapter.
