A/N: This is the idea I was talking about earlier ^^
I sat on my cloud, looking up at the souls I had nurtured. They're stars now, giving life and light to the blackness of the universe.
You see, I'm one of many angels specifically charged with taking people's souls once they leave the body, and turning them into stars.
I've been doing this since the beginning of time. I've held the soul of almost everyone who has ever died on earth in my hands, carefully and strategically placing them somewhere in the cosmos.
I can still tell which stars are ones I've transformed. I remember each and every one of their names. I remember molding their light to make up for the universe's darkness. I miss so many of them. I didn't want to let a lot of them go. But I have to.
Hello? Is there anybody out there?
I looked down, seeing a new soul drifting towards me.
I smiled, cupping the soul in my hands.
I'm here, I told it. Don't be afraid. What's your name?
Tyler Joseph. Wh-where am I?
I pursed my lips. I guess you could call this heaven, Tyler.
Really? I... I made it to heaven? I never thought I would.
My smile faltered then. There was a soul like this one every once in a while. One that is overcome with tears when they find out they reached heaven, all because they thought they wouldn't.
I recovered my smile. Yes, Tyler. You made it.
So, what happens now?
I'm going to turn you into a star, Tyler.
Wh-what?
Allow me to explain. My name is Jenna. I'm one of many angels who welcome new souls into heaven, then turn these souls into stars. Every star you saw back on earth was once a living person with hopes, dreams, feelings, hardships, everything you have. You're going to be one of them, now.
So, my family will look up at the night sky and see me?
They won't know it's you, but, yes. They'll see your star every night.
Will I be able to see them?
I'm afraid not, I sighed. I'm sorry.
Oh... It's okay.
I truly felt for this soul. Tyler was so meek, so humble. I felt.... pulled to him.
I think he's my favorite.
Can I go back? He asked me.
I shook my head. There are other angels in charge of that. You don't remember meeting them?
No, I don't.
Well, Tyler, they judge you and decide whether you'll go back to earth, or move on and meet me. I guess you're ready to move on, Tyler.
I may be ready, but I don't want to.
What you're feeling is normal, Tyler. Hardly anyone wants to move on. It may seem scary to be thrown into a realm like this, but it really isn't. Your star will be placed close to people you knew and loved that have already moved on.
Does that mean I'll see my best friend, Josh, again? He asked hopefully.
If that is what you wish. I smiled.
I remember Josh. I should've known they knew each other. They're so much alike. It would be cruel to not put them together for eternity.
Thank you so much! His voice was so full of happiness.
You're very welcome. I smiled.
I licked my lips as I realized I needed to let him go now. His location's been set, and he needs to be placed there as soon as possible before someone else takes it.
But I want to keep talking to him. I want to get to know him better. I don't want to let him go.
Okay, Jenna. I'm ready to go.
Y-yeah. Of course.
Is something wrong, Jenna?
No, nothing. I'm fine.
You have to let me go, Jenna. I like you, too, but it's like you said. I have to move on.
You're right, Tyler. I smiled sadly. I'm sorry. I won't forget you, Tyler.
I won't forget you either, Jenna.
I stood, beginning to walk across my cloud.
My eyes scanned the sky for Josh's star. It would be a yellowish color since he passed away about a year ago.
I found it, and smiled when I saw there was just enough space to the left of his star for Tyler to rest there forever.
Thank you, Jenna.
You're welcome, Tyler.
I rested his soul on the tip of my finger, and carefully placed it on the desired spot.
It took a moment, but Tyler finally became a star, bleeding into the black canvas.
I smiled, then began my walk back.
I let a few tears fall, creating falling stars to those on earth.
I truly was happy for Tyler, but I would also truly miss my favorite star.
