A/N: Another one-shot based off a Sleeping at Last song sorry I'm not sorry. But I highly suggest you listen to this song while reading this bc I kinda made my own story with it just based on the instrumental and I think I might actually like this one. We'll see.
People Involved: Tyler, Jenna, Josh and Halsey
Warning(s): N/A
Ever since it was created, the moon has shed its light on so many things...
8:46 PM
Her name is Jenna Black.
She can hear the voices from inside the house. They're distorted from over the phone her parents are undoubtedly using right now.
She closed her eyes as she sighed, letting the elongated exhale create a cloud to stain the clear night.
The air surrounding her was chilly, as well as the brick against her back.
She listens to the voices again, the emptiness inside her sucking everything away like a black hole.
She had only been hiding in the backyard for ten minutes, deciding whether or not she should run away, and her parents were already panicking.
It has now been about 25 minutes, and Jenna still hasn't put her trust in her own feet.
But just then, the moonlight speared through the black leaves, giving Jenna a soft glow.
She looked to the light, the full moon.
The moon is so beautiful, She thought. And "moon" is kind of a funny word. She chuckled to herself.
Was this a sign? Was the moon trying to tell her something? Was it calling to her to follow it and run away?
She barely questioned it. She got up on her feet and ran.
11:03 PM
No one could hear the thundering footsteps and overjoyed yells from the couple as they ran down an alley holding each other's hand. They were asleep.
The couple is made up of Josh Dun and Ashley Frangipane. Though, Ashley prefers the name Halsey.
The two have been dating for three years now, and the couple couldn't be happier.
They did this often; Josh would throw a rock at Halsey's window at 11 o'clock precisely. Then, the girl would open her window and jump, the boy catching her from the short drop. Josh puts Halsey back on her feet, and the two take hands. And that's when they can be free to explore the quiet city together.
They emerged from the alley, walking into the rays of moonlight.
The two froze as the translucent, silvery ribbons of light draped over them.
They looked up to the sky, their hazel eyes both taking in the stars and the moon.
The boy tore his gaze away to focus on something he perceived to be much more beautiful.
Halsey's eyes were still caught under the spell of the moon, even though her very being was a spell Josh couldn't break. Then again, it was a spell he didn't want to break.
The moonlight snaked its way into the artificial blue tendrils of her hair, casting shadows on her skin, silver veins weaving themselves into her eyes.
Josh's lips parted slightly in pure awe. She had never been so beautiful in all the time he knew her.
His hand twitched slightly as it laid by his sides.
He mustered up the courage, lifting his hand pushing through the rivers of moonlight as if he were going against the current.
His fingers gingerly slid down her sleek jawline, turning her head to break the moon's spell on her.
Her lips parted as well as her eyes locked onto Josh.
His beautiful face was divided nearly perfectly in half, a little bit of moonlight overpowering the shadow right near the top of his nose.
She saw the same silver veins in his eyes that he saw in hers, except his seemed to make his irises swirl into a mystical rotation, like the stars as they move across the sky in a time-lapse.
Both closed their eyes and leaned in closer to each other, until the stars behind their eyelids guided them to the other's lips.
2:54 AM
The moonlit walk comforted Tyler Joseph just a little bit.
These late night walks weren't phenomena; they happened rather frequently.
Tyler has been struggling with insomnia for a while now, as well as depression.
Several hours earlier, he had lost his regional championship basketball game.
Regional at best, He thought skeptically.
He didn't enjoy basketball nearly as much as he used to, but the loss still affected his mood.
His parents consoled him the whole ride home, but he was convinced they thought he was a disappointment.
Tyler sighed, turning his gaze upward as he craned his neck.
And right there, right above him, was the moon, giving off the only blinding light he had ever seen the moon emit.
It shone down on him like a spotlight.
And that was all he wanted; to be under the heat of a spotlight, whether it was metaphorical or literal.
He wanted people to pay attention to him; to listen to him in the metaphorical sense. In the literal sense, he would want and get the same thing, and so would thousands of adoring fans.
Tyler let his head drop to eye-level, looking forward at his house that was just barely in view.
He walked down to his house, hopeful that moonlight would shine down on him once again.
Ever since it was created, the moon has shed its light on so many things...
A girl running away from home,
Two star-crossed lovers sneaking out to be together,
And a depressed boy struggling to find purpose in his life.
The moon saw all these things, and it sees everything you go through.
And if you look, you'll see the moonlight that moved four very different people.
I promise you that.
