I wake up at 7:00. I make my way to the kitchen. Donna, Mikey and Gerard are drinking coffee. I don't say anything or make eye contact with anyone. I find a mug and pour myself a cup of coffee. I sit down at the end of the table, away from the other three.

"How are you feeling this morning?" Donna asks me. I shrug. I focus on my coffee. Someone sighs.

"I'm sorry about last night." I whisper.

"It's okay." Mikey replies. I finish my coffee and put my mug in the sink. I walk back down the hall. I go back to the guest room. I et dressed and find my notebook and sit down.

Day after day

I walk the same streets

And wait for the moment

When somebody's feet

Stop traversing the sidewalk

And simply stand

Beside my lone figure

And reach for my hand

A gesture so simple

Yet so hard to do

To stick to the promise

Of 'I'll be here for you'

We don't fight the same battles

But we fight the same war

And I'll give you my trust

If you'll give me yours

For as long as this world

Keeps coming untied

I'll be there to fix it

Right by your side

But no feet stop walking

They all have somewhere to be

Until the only ones left

Are my shadow and me

I lift my pen and flip the page. I stare at the ceiling, thinking. I get an idea and look back down at my notebook.

If I showed you my teardrops

Would you collect them like rain

Store them in jars

That are labeled with 'Pain'

Would you follow their tracks

From my eyes down my cheeks

As they write all the stories

I'm too scared to speak

Would you stop them with kisses

Bring their flow to a halt

As you teach me that pain

Isn't always my fault

Would you hold my face gently

As you dry both my eyes

And whisper the words

'You're to precious to cry'

If I showed you my teardrops

Would you show me you own
