Chapter Twenty-Three: Is Terry Worth It? Was Grayson Worth It?

Third-Person POV

Grayson entered his home pacing back and forth not knowing what to do. How could someone who is supposed to love him unconditionally cause him so much pain? For the first time in his life, Grayson Hughes did not know what to do. Whether to call the police or his own entourage, he doesn't know. If he calls the police, he knows that they are probably on Sharon's side. Calling his own entourage might awake some demons in his past that he never wants awaken. Is Terry worth it? That was the million dollar question that was on Grayson Hughes's mind.

"Just bring him back!" A cry interrupted Grayson from his decision making process. Grayson looks to see whose voice it is and he sees its Danny. "Please bring him back." Danny cries as Lucinda comforts him.

"He's coming back. I promise you." Grayson says and storms to his home office. Searching for the number he never thought he would need again, he finds it in his safe among other important documents. Hesitant at first, Grayson dials the number.

"Grayson? Is everything okay?" The man with the deep voice asks.

"Sharon. She took someone and I want him back." Grayson answers trying to hold himself together so that he won't shed some tears.

"At her house?" The man asks.

"Yes. I don't care what happens, as long he's back in my arms."

"It will be impossible to do it tonight."

"Fine, the first thing tomorrow, you get the job done."

"Done." As soon as the line disconnects, Grayson falls to the floor and breaks down. Tears he has been holding in since he could remember. When Sharon offered him to the women who raped him, he didn't cry, when his father died, he didn't cry. Letting it all out is the only thing Grayson can do. The pain and the fear of a possibility that he might never see Terry again makes him cry. Living in a world without Terry is something that Grayson Hughes doesn't want to experience again.

*********

Terry woke up suddenly, panting and out of breathe. As he looked at his surroundings he noticed that he is still in the cell. Hands tied, feet tied. He has been in that cell for about 18 hours. Tears start slowly coming down his face because of the pettiness feeling he feels for himself. Was Grayson worth it?  He is here in the cell while Grayson is in his 20 million dollar penthouse; warm and safe. Logically, no one in this entire world would go through the things Terry has for their significant lover. It was too good to be true anyway, Terry thinks to himself.

"God?" Terry prays for the first time in forever. "If I get out of here, I'm going to end it between me and Grayson." Maybe God doesn't want us to be together, he thinks. Even though his old boyfriend Raymond was a workaholic, things were easier than this. "Please get me out of here." Terry cries while hiding his face into his knees. Before he could finish his prayer, the main door opens followed by footsteps.

"Terry Baker?" A man asks with a gun in his hands. Terry nods his head nervously not sure whether its his rescuer or his murderer. As soon as he nods, the man begins to apply some gooey substance to the bars that is causing them to smoke. After about 20 seconds, the bar falls forwards making Terry realize that this was in fact a rescue mission. Terry rises to his feet and put his hands forward.

"What about Sharon?" Terry asks not wanting to get killed by Sharon's people.

"She stepped out. We have about five minutes." The man freed Terry of his chains, grabbed his hand and started heading out. With others also on the rescue mission, the path to the outdoors was cleared  and it consisted of people dead and others unconscious. Trying not to look at them, Terry focused on the man leading him towards his freedom. After making it outside, the car is started and to his freedom they drove.

"Did Grayson sent you?" Terry asks once they were at a safe distance away from his prison.

"Yes. You are one lucky person." The man answers him.

Lucky? If being put in the hospital because one of your boyfriend's mother's goons made you fall unconscious then yes, Terry was indeed lucky. If being lucky meant your boyfriend emotionally hurts you all in the name of protecting you, then yes, Terry was lucky. If being lucky meant your father going homeless all because of the same bitch that is giving you hell, then yes, Terry was lucky. Last but not least, if being lucky meant being thrown in a personal prison by the devil herself then yes, Terry Baker was the luckiest man in the world.

Reaching their destination, the car came to a stop. The men guided Terry out of the car and to the elevator. Terry was familiar with the elevator, he knew it led to the penthouse whose owner is responsible for all the misery he has faced. Knowing what he has to do, Terry stood still waiting. The bell went off and everyone stepped off the elevator.

"Terry?!"Danny screams running forward to embrace the one person in this world he doesn't want to loose. Danny and Terry embraces each other for what felt like forever. After parting, Terry goes and hugs Lucinda and thanks her for attempting to hide him from Sharon. He pulls away from her and heads towards Grayson's office.

"Grayson?" Terry calls out opening the door slowly. Before he could open the door completely, he is lifted off the ground and into a pair of the strongest arms he has ever been in. Grayson hold Terry and doesn't let him go. Until moments ago, Grayson didn't even know if this moment was possible. To see him again. To hold him again. To love him forever.

"Terry, I was so scared." Grayson says brushing the curls out of Terry's face. "I was so worried." Grayson says leaning down and giving Terry a kiss on the lips.

"I stink. Don't do that." Terry says leaning away from Grayson.

"Look at me? I love you, and I'm so happy to have you back. I'm so sorry about everything."

"Its okay."

"No its not okay. Trust me, Sharon will pay for this."

"Don't do anything."

"I will do everything. Right now, you need to be taken care of. We nee..."

"Grayson, please sit down."

"What's wrong?" Grayson sits down on his office couch and pulls Terry into his lap.

"I have to tell you something." Terry begins with tears already coming down his face.

"Yes."

"I think we should part ways."

"What do you mean part ways?" Grayson asks with his own tears coming down his face. In the back of his mind, maybe he knew this was coming.

"This thing between us, can't work."

"Terry?! Please.."

"I can't continue living like this. Every second I'm always on the alarm that Sharon will do something to me. If not me, someone that I care about."

"Terry....."

"I'm so sorry."

The End.
