It felt like an eternity before I was able to mentally shake myself and move slowly down the hill towards Magnolia. Once I entered town I try to keep my bike as quiet as I could hoping not to wake anyone. Navigating the city was more difficult than I thought it would be, and before long I lost sight of the guild hall. I sigh stopping completely trying to figure out what I should do next.
There was a elderly couple walking down the street ahead of me, I move towards them and as I approach They turn their attention to the sound of my bike, they looked at me in curiosity. As I roll up beside them I flip the visor up on my helmet to look at them. "Good evening" I say skeptically that they will understand me.
"Good evening deary" the woman says softly a small warm smile across her lips.
"I was wondering if you know the way to fairy tail from here" I say shakily being taken aback that they spoke English.
The gentleman pointed down the street, "down that way three streets down take a left, and you will be looking at it."
I nod slowly, "thank you very much for your help enjoy the rest of your walk."
"You too sweetie" the lady replied.
I moved away from them slowly following the man's instructions and before long I found myself in front of the massive building known only as fairy tail. I sat on my bike awestruck at the size of the building. My heart was beating a million miles per hour. Was Mavis really in there? what do I say, "hey I know you from my dreams and I want to get to know you" Yea.... that sounds like a swell Idea..... I shake my head, trying to calm myself down. I'm here, that's all there is to it. I'm not going to chicken out. I'm not! I scream inside of my thoughts.I look down at my bike noticing I'm just above empty, Great. I knew I should have filled up yesterday..... I turn off the engine as I slowly get off my bike as well as taking my helmet off. I walk across the street to stand before the two giant doors. I took a long pause trying to mentally prepare for what I was going to find inside. My entire stomach was full of butterflies. Will I finally get to meet her? I ask myself not knowing the answer of course. I let out a long breath, "let's get this over with" I whisper to myself and push the doors open.
It was a lot larger than I ever expected. It's almost like a beer hall you would see in a fantasy movie, though it was almost empty. I could count maybe a dozen people milling around the tables and a board on the far side of the room. The door I pushed open kept moving without me noticing and slammed against the wall making a loud banging noise causing most heads to turn in my direction. I froze in place completely debating on whether to run or not.
"Hey over here," I heard a sing song voice call me over, I took a look around trying to find its origin. There was a woman maybe a few years older than me with snow white hair and a slender figure waving at me from behind a bar.
Once I closed the door quietly this time I made my way over to the bar. Those around going back to what they originally were doing loosing interest in me. "What brings you to fairy tail?" She asks me happily wiping down a glass offering my a glass of water. I take it slowly nodding in appreciation.
"I...." I start before stopping, I let out a small chuckle dropping my gaze to my drink, "you wouldn't believe me if I told you the truth, no one ever does." I say honestly.
"try me" she sets the glass down under the counter leaning in closer making me blush due to to how beautiful she was up close. Anyone in their right mind would go rosy in the cheeks if they had someone like that on their arm.
"w-well....." I try and start getting a reassuring nod from this girl. "when I was young I had dreams of a girl, on an island. just the two of us."
She put her hands to her cheeks a ear to ear smile on her face, "so your trying to find her then? Ohh how romantic!!" she squeals giddily, from that I got the impression she was the type of person that would try and pair people off, Forcefully if need be.
"y-yea, but the weird thing is that whenever I had these dreams it wasnt me that was with her, it was another girl. I was on my way home when a bolt of lightning struck in front of me and I blacked out, and when I came to I found myself on the edge of town."
"hmm that is weird," Maybe its someone from a past life?" She ponders, the smile never leaving her lips. "whats even weirder is there hasn't been any lightning storms in the area for a while now. where are you from?" she asks softly.
"Tokyo, Japan" I say, "ever heard of it?"
"can't say I have. Maybe if I pull out a map..... that would take a bit of time. you said you were with a girl on this Island?" I nod, "what was her name, if you don't mind me asking."
"......Mavis. Mavis vermillion." I say quietly.
The woman stopped dead in her tracks. She looks away slowly as if she saw a ghost.
"did i say something wrong....?" I look at her worriedly.
The seconds dragged on for what seemed like an eternity before she let out a sigh. "stay here....." with that she left the bar and disappeared into a back storage room. I sat there seeming lost as to what I said that made her leave. Does she know her? I found myself thinking.
After at least an hour she came out from behind the door. with a bunch of photos many of them having the girl I have only known in my dreams. I found myself lost in these small snap shots into her life. Before long I hear her clear her throat, "Mavis....... Mavis passed 94 years ago..."
