I woke up early the next morning. Like all warriors we slept out in a field in small tents. I sat up on the cot I lay on, and stretched. The first rays of a new day's sunlight were beginning to come through the beige walls of the tent. 'Another day begins, and a new chance for the war to take different swings for the best starts' I thought. I quickly dressed in a pair of dark grey pants, and white shirt. I slipped on my body army, and gauntlets over my wrists before heading out. The field was quiet for now, but I could hear others stirring in their tents. Soon it would be crowded, and loud with men chatting and fighting over food. I started to run down the aisle of of tents, skidding to a halt at the stable-like building. I sat at the bar counter on an unbalanced barstool.
"Your up early" the lady behind the counter said. She had long blonde hair, and bright blue eyes. She smiled kindly as she began to pour a couple cups of tea.
"Of course Mrs. Helton" I replied.
"You should get more sleep like the others, a little more sleep might make you grow taller" she teased. Fifteen years old and I was... I was short!
"Hey, I am not short" I protested as I took a sip of tea. I nearly spat out the tea, and tears threatened to spill. I refused to cry, and forced myself to swallow the searing hot tea.
"You really should wait for it to cool" said a voice behind me. I turn to see Brad taking a seat at the counter. He was eating a fried piece of fish, and the smell was warm, salt, and a bit like bacon smelling.
"Dale is cooking up a huge haul of fish on the other side of camp, they just announced it a few minutes ago by the tents" he informed me. I groaned, and let my head fall on the wooden counter.
"See, you should have stayed in bed. You may have heard the announcements" Eleanor stated. She turned away to see Dale returning. They spoke to one another talking about the war.
"This war is such a drag" I complained.
"Yeah, but it's still important" Brad reminded me.
"I suppose" I said, "After all these years it's been fought it looks like we're losing though" I said.
"Yeah, but that's because they haven't put me out there" Brad said.
"They'll put me out there, and the enemy down south will see me. They'll start running I bet you" he bragged. I rolled my eyes sarcastically.
"They need more people on guard patrol. They keep infiltrating the cities there won't be any citizens to protect" I continued.
"They need more supplies in Ormis if they want to take back control" I stated.
"This war is pointless" said a new voice. I looked up to see Erza a few seats away with a cup of wine. 'How long has he been there?' I wondered.
"But it's for power, for the safety of our country" Brad argued.
"Seems ironic that all the fighting is going to lead to safety and security in the end" he told him. Brad was speechless which was unusual.
"But it's to keep them safe from those who would try to attack the towns" he finally argued. The two continue to argue without end. 'I wonder if there is any point in this war. It's a fight for power and security, but I wonder to what extent would someone fight for power. Power gave us our rights here, but how far would someone use power for themselves? Power was necessary, but in my opinion it was dangerous' I thought.
"Hey, you three!" called Edgar. He walked towards us briskly.
"I'd like a word with you three" he said sternly. He took a seat the the bar. I noticed he was holding a folder. He slapped in the counter, and pulled out a long piece of parchment.
