I could barely move where I stood. I'd never truly witnessed someone close die, but I couldn't imagine what Brad felt. His father had used Erza's method I lightning transportation to at the last moment save his son. A speck of blood dripped onto Brad's cheek. He was on his knees over his son. One wolfman had his jaws clamped onto his throat. Two others had their claws in his back, and impaled him. Brad stared up, blue eyes to blue eyes; father to son.
"That was close" Dave said. He grinned as blood dripped down the corners of his mouth. He tried to stand, but wouldn't. The wolfmen dug their claws and teeth into him making him wince.
" I hope you don't think bad of me" he began to say. His eyes became more dilated. His lips moved, but I couldn't hear words leave his mouth. He fell over onto the stone.
"Don't think bad, because- I- it looks like I have to leave you" he muttered. His sides heaved for air. Brad moved to his knees at his father side. I was still a good distance off when Brad lunged. He slammed his fist into. One of the wolvemen's face. He spun around, eyes flashing yellow. 'He's lost his mind' I realized. At that moment I was slamme once again into a nearby wall. My eyes shut as pain flooded through me. The wall I was pinned against cracked, and bits of stone fell on my face. I brought my knee up, and managed to kick the east away, but not for long. It lunged again from the side. One hand found one of my arms and teeth found the other. Searing pain, and blood dripped from the wound. I brought my knee up repeatedly trying to shake him off, but I found I couldn't.
A loud crackling sound sounded from Erza's dagger, but it wasn't at the wolf men. Brad was approaching her with a murderous look in his wolf eyes.
"Brad no!" I snapped, more of a snarl than voice. I darted forward, grabbing him around the neck. My claws dug into his thick fur, and I forced him to the ground. His eyes found me, and he snapped his teeth at me. I smacked his muzzle, and snapped it shut with a hand.
"Enough" I growled, but he fought on. He was too far into a rage to make sense of anything. His hind foot kicked me off. I collapsed to the ground in my back. Brad was snarling, approaching Erza, and I was on my back as wolfmen approached. My was still bleeding quite heavily, and I couldn't get up fast enough to defend myself. A loud snarling erupted into the air. I shut my eyes immediately, but I never felt the bite, or sting, nor blood dripping down my throat. I opened my eyes to see a wolf with glossy dark brown coat of fur and gleaming brown eyes fly overhead. It attacked Brad, keeping him from attacking Erza, and kept him pinned down. He snapped his jaws furiously, but was unable to attack. I lifted myself up to see a familiar inky black wolf completely tearing into the wolfmen. One fell over as it tore its neck I pieces. Before one could attack he spun around while keeping it pinned down with his front legs. His jaws snapped at his attacker, and tore at its ear. The wolf pinned down lay there, no longer movin. As four other wolves lunged into the battle. They drove off the other wolfmen, but most of them didn't have a chance to escape before they met death. The one wolf pinning Brad down backed off. Brad lay on his side not moving. His eyes flickering to the sides. The large inky black wolf looked up at me. A wolfish grin that was was both friendly and arrogant crossed its face.
"Edmund?" I asked. The large wolf nodded its head. The four wolves shifted back to human form.
"Heh, yeah it's me" he replied. Erza looked away shyly.
"Would you guy's mind dressing" Erza asked.
"Yeah, sorry" one if the girls apologized, "I suppose that's a downside to shifting" she laughed. She was carrying a large bundle of clothing, and handed it others.
"Dude" Tyler snapped at Brad who was staring at one of the girls, the same girl that had him pinned own a moment ago.
"What?" Brad asked, glaring at him. A few minutes later everyone was gathered at the building Dale had stabilized. A blanote from Erza's bag had been drawn over the late Sergeants body.
