I awoke early in the morning before everyone else. I rolled over, and pulled out the book again. I looked at the picture of the woman again. Asena, I wondered who she was. I noticed the others behind her. It was odd though, the others behind her didn’t look human. Their ears were pointed, their teeth exposed and sharp, and their claws were long. They looked like wolf people. Still, they looked like they were following her. I decided she was the leader of the tribe. Outside a loud drum sounded.

“Get up!” I heard Captain yelling. Everyone groggily started to get up, and dressed. Outside a line formed, and we started heading to breakfast. A quick breakfast was eaten, and we started heading down a trail. Everyone was half asleep, but we had to follow Captain Brooks.

“Alright, I want you to pair up with someone. You’ll warm up with a brief sparring practice in front of everyone. We formed two lines, and everyone fought. It was interesting to watch because it gave us a chance to learn who was who, and what type of magic they had. Brad faught against a black haired boy with green eyes. He had a scar below his eye on his left cheek. His name was Derrick, he was part of the alpha cabin, and used wind magic and a dagger. The dagger glowed blue, if it came within an inch of your skin it could still cut you. It was an odd magic, but similar to Erza’s lighting dagger.

Apart of alpha cabin I learned was Derrick used wind magic, Trenton used a sword that could change size up to four feet, Tobi who used two sabers to use earth magic, Luke who used his magic to enhance his speed and physical strength to fight, Sammy who used a lightning dagger identical to Erza.

The Omega cabin was made up of Cody and Gray were brothers using wolf magic, Dameon and Adam both happened to use battle axes, and Simon used his magic to enhance his strength and speed. I was the last one to fight, and was paired up against Erza. ‘I have an advantage against Erza since I already know her- I mean his strengths and tactics’ I thought. Somewhere nearby I sensed a familiar magical presence. I glanced to my left. Leaning against a tree a little distance away was Dale. ‘I’ll prove I can be focused’ I thought.

“You may begin” instructed Captain Brooks.

“Dis pence” I said. My claws lengthened; long, black, and thick. Erza darted forward, and I braced myself. With Erza’s hair cut short she appeared to be a boy, but for a moment I could still see the girls face I’d seen under the moonlight yesterday night. Erza threw a punch at me, and I narrowly dodged it. I stumbled backwards, shaking the memory out of my mind. I ducked under another punch, and kicked low in an attempt to to trip her. Erza jumped over my foot, spinning at the same time, and delivered a kick to my shoulder. I tripped backwards, but I stayed up on my feet. I charged forward, striking at her with my claws. The sound of metal sliding against metal alerted my ears. I jumped backwards as she withdrew her dagger. Erza put one foot out, and spun around drawing a circle in the dirt with her heel. Erza quickly drew something in the circle that resembled a lightning bolt, and thrust her dagger at the edge of the circle. The circle glowed blue, and began to spark.

“Reverse rain of lightning” she said. The ground below me pulsed in one direct point. My eyes widened as I realized what she was doing. I dodged left as the ground where I’d been standing crumbled as a bolt of lightning shot up.The ground pulsed again just directly below me. I started to run, dodging bolts of lightning. Each time I did it was moving me further away from Erza. I started to charge towards Erza, dodging the lightning bolts. I dashed by the transmutation circle, about to knock Erza out. Seeing Erza from behind I remembered the girl standing in the river. Beautiful hair that shone under the moonlight, dark brown that had a reddish color to it. I faltered for a second, but in that second a wall of lightning shot up from the circle. The impact blasted me a few feet, and I fell on my back. I groaned as I sat up, and I sighed. I didn’t dare look to see if Dale was still watching me fail. ‘He doesn’t has the focus or maturity to be apart of a task force’ I remembered Dale’s words. I tightened my hands into fists when Erza offered a hand, and helped me up to my feet.
