The Town of Tristand

We were halfway to Tristand when the train stopped, taking a rest in Anor. It would head to Tristand again in an hour, and we'd reach Tristand itself possibly by tonight. We stopped behind an old barn on the edge of town. Brad tossed me my bag which I caught in my mouth. The four waited to the side of a building for me to change back and dress. I nearly fell over when I started walking. Going from four to two legs was really weird. It made me feel really off balanced. My senses seemed to have dulled a lot too.

"Are you okay Jeremy?" Erza asked me. I nodded my head,

"Yeah" I replied huskily. Even my voice was hoarse.

"Hey Brad, I need your help finding my dog. I think he ran away" Tyler said sarcastically.

"Hey Tyler I found the group idiot" I shot back.

"Quite arguing, you're both idiots" Erza decided which resulted in laughter. We stopped at a small cafe in town. We still had plenty of time which would probably spent here reading, eating, and buying supplies from across the road. Anor was a quiet town. I could only wonder though what the towns closer to the coast were like. Especially with this war going on. I remembered my words to Edmund. 'Wolf magic is more than just dangerous. I bet it could change this war for the better' I hoped. 'And Dale, maybe even captain Brooks, are out there in enemy territory' I remembered. So much danger in the quest for power. I read more of Wolf Spell. It was beginning to read about the Ashina pack, the group of wolf people.

"Jeremy time to go" Tyler announced. I shut the book, and hurried to keep up with my team. We reached the station only to discover that the train to Tristand wasn't running right. They had to shut it down temporarily, but when it would be running was uncertain. We chose to go on foot to Tristand. It's take at least three to four days to reach the town. The walk would make our journey away from the base camp back in Estras about a week and a half. The other guys were probably fighting as we walked. Fending off an enemy army. It made me wish we could move faster, so we could join them in battle. 'But I half to know if my mother is out there I this dangerous worlds. I want to know just what happened to wolf magic mages' I thought. I looked down at my own two feet. 'But what will I say to this man, this king that claims to be my father?' I wondered curiously.

"Jeremy, hello?" Tyler's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I looked up from the ground, and realized the group had stopped for some reason. Behind my Hunter and Erza were at Brad's side who had collapsed.

"Oh man, what the hell happened to him?" I asked. I walked towards him, kneeling by my friend's unconscious side. Erza put a hand to his forehead.

"I think he's sick, he has a fever" she told us.

"We'll have to stop for now" Hunter said. He looked to Tyler,

"Think you can make another house with wood magic?" He asked Tyler. The plant Mage nodded his head, and drew another transmutation circle like before with the creepy vine plant in his bag. I offered to help, and grabbed hold of the dagger. Between my magic energy and Tyler's fueling the magic it didn't seem to have the same effect on him as the last time back in Anor. We carried Brad in, and lay him down. Sweat head on his forehead. His eyes opened, and he murmured something that couldn't be understood. We have him water, and set a damp piece of torn cloth on his head, and the back of his neck. Still the fever wouldn't go down, and his shirt was soaked in sweat. The shirt was taken off, and tossed aside. I noticed something though.

There was a long scratch across Brad's chest.  It was black in color with three smaller scratches beside it. The first time I went berserk with wolf magic, and I attacked my team they told me I scratched Brad. I frowned, they had said it wasn't bad, but this looked like it had been nearly fatal. 'But that's not right, if it was nearly a fatal wound Brad wouldn't have been walking around the day afterwards' I thought.
