Chapter 6:The Investigation [ Part 1]
THIRD PERSON POV
Allen played with the rubix cube clamped inside his palm. He was a genius at it. Just a flick of the wrist, and there it was done. But, today he was just staring at it. His mind was predicting the various outcomes of his conversation with Ashley.
He sometimes wanted to be like Helen, who was able to predict the past with a look at the scene. Even the smallest scratch could help her in discovering the mystery of a murder.
He knew that it wasn't even possible for her to predict what had happened on the night of December 28. He remembered going to that mansion, not finding any scratch there. The shocking fact was that the dead bodies were not bleeding at all.
Jessie had received a call regarding this issue seven months ago. It was terrifying to see her face when she came and told us about this feud. Her eyes were basically at the verge of crying while telling them about the case. Her eyes were a mixture of sympathy and pleading agony. He estimated that guilt would be there soon if they hadn't accepted the case.
The more frustrating part was that they had to wait for a whole seven months to talk to one witness as the other eleven were dead.
The whole team were so tired by waiting that last week they had literally became a riot. He still couldn't believe that he had screamed at the Barista for making a gun design in his cappuccino. He was the coolest and childish person in their group, rarely expressing his anger ever.
The thing was that, they had to be on their top friendly behaviour around Ashley, for she was a kid. It was desired so she could open up to them. Although Johanna being the cold hearted boss protested against it. He said it wasn't necessary but, it was. He didn't seem to understand that Ashley would be there for days or maybe months with them. Sure, they had solved cases in which children were involved. But this was different. They had never lived with a child.
Allen being Allen talked Johanna into agreeing for at least him and Helen to live with her in the inn. Thought there was a condition that said that none of them including Logan, Sarah and Jessie, could attach to her emotionally.
Now, that was the thing. They couldn't stop themselves from doing that. They all had merrily accepted the condition thinking that Ashley would be just some snobby fourteen-year old brat, always lost in the world of makeup. Damn were they wrong.
She was completely opposite of what they had thought. Ashley was a witty, quite, humorous and charming little angel. She talked sensibly and knew what to say when. She had quite the affect on them. He still felt reluctant about questioning her. He felt bad for leaving her in the living room with Sarah, not that she was not a warm company. But, he had come to the investigation room to join the others in preparing the questions.
That was the plan. They had planned on getting out of the living room one-by-one and make our destination to the investigation room. Now he felt repulsive about it. He felt guilty when he walked through the lane of his memories.
Can someone really get attached to someone that quickly?
His shuffling came to a halt when he heard quiet and hesitant footsteps approaching his side. He felt like a cougar upon the arrival. He felt a presence over his shoulder.
He turned his head slightly backwards and beckoned Ashley towards the chair parallel to the end of the small wooden table. Ashley walked in a humanly impossible slow pace towards the plastic chair in front of him. Her small hands were in fists and her body was rigid, making her shot up to her full height.
