It was decided that the girls would share a suite while the boys all got their own rooms. We were staying in a huge (and nearly empty) hotel, so it was convenient for us to each have our own beds and privacy. I had borrowed Niall's guitar (and if anyone asked, I'd say he gave permission), and I was just finishing a song I'd written while on “vacation”. It was the first song I'd ever attempted to write, and I was proud of it. But I was never going to let the boys hear it. Ever.
“What is that music for? I've never heard that song,” Dani said, sitting down beside me.
“No, you wouldn't have. I wrote it myself,” I replied.
“Can I hear the finished product,” Mica asked. She'd seen me writing it and had even heard the chorus before, but I'd never let her read the song or hear the whole thing.
“Okay... but I'm never playing it for the boys. So don't even ask about that,” I told them. Then I took a deep breath and started playing.
Slip across the floor
Grace denied once more
a toe far out the door
And you want more.
Turn your head against the wind
take a step out onto the street
This longing lives inside you
It's eating the inside
No way to stop, only turning for the blind
You want it, you need it
You beg and you plead
Sparkling eyes, open wide to see
You are all, you are none
The world and the void
In all of the noise, I hear you
In all of the noise I hear you
A tango of feeling
A rush all alone
You can't forget what you came for
Why should you waste your time playing a game
When you could be dancing a solo
Take that step now
Don't look back now
Turn your heart to flow along
You want it, you need it
You beg and you plead
Sparkling eyes, open wide to see
You are all, you are none
The world and the void
In all of the noise, I hear you
In all of the noise I hear you
Pirouette, pique, tondu, retiré
The steps of time and balance
You hear it, you know it
Don't fight it, just show it
Dance now, away
You want it
You need it
You fight it
You see it
