Two months later

Liam's POV

None of us had seen Haley since we'd gotten back to London. We got updates over the phone every week about how she was doing. We'd each gotten a picture of the first ultrasound as it happened (over text, not in person), and the baby was a boy. She'd texted me yesterday saying she didn't have a name chosen yet, but she was thinking about it. It was tearing Zayn apart that she'd locked herself in her house.

After so long of not seeing her, it surprised me when she sent me and Louis texts this morning inviting us over. She'd asked me to bring her some coffee, so I was currently stopped at a cafe to pick some up. The girl in front of me was taking forever, and couldn't seem to decide what it was she wanted. Her hair was as red as Haley's and she had to be about eighteen. She was actually really pretty, and I'd be happy to stop and talk to her... but Haley was waiting for me and she was more important.

"Oh, you know, I'll just have a hot chocolate. I don't feel like coffee today," the girl said. Finally, I thought. Then instead of stepping to the side, she turned to face me. "I'm Melody, Mel for short," she told me. I nodded.

"I'm Liam. Nice to meet you," I replied politely. She smiled.

"Liam Payne? I thought I might have recognized you. I'm a bit of a fan," she told me. She finally stepped to the side to let me order.

"One small black coffee, and one medium latte," I told the cashier, taking out my card to pay. I turned back to Mel to finish talking to her, but she was already gone. Huh, that was weird.

The traffic was crazy between the cafe and Haley's house. She wasn't going to be very happy that I was late, but hopefully the coffee would make her forgive me. I knocked on the door and Louis pulled it open. He smiled at me and stepped aside to let me in.

Haley had gotten a bit big. Not too bad, as she was only four and a half months along, but you could now definitely tell she was pregnant. I wondered if this is part of why she hasn't let us see her.

"How have you been Haley," I asked, handing her the coffee. She smiled at me as she took a drink.

"Thanks, LiLi! I'm good, actually. The morning sickness has passed completely, and I'm in my second trimester. I'm sore, but good. But that's not why I asked you guys to be here," she told me. She patted the couch beside her for me to sit, and pointed to the chair across from us for Lou. We both sat.

"What's going on, Hales?" Lou asked, trying to sound happy.

"So I wanted to ask you guys something. But first... how is Zayn doing? I know this is hard on him. I just need to figure some things out for myself," she told us. I met Louis's eyes, debating how much to tell her.

"I don't think he understands. He's not going out of his flat very much anymore, and he's actually in Bradford right now because his mum thought it would be good for him to get out of it," Louis told her.

"He's talking to all of us, so we know he's not in any danger. It's just that he hasn't seen you in a couple of months, and he's not happy about that. He really loves you. And of course he really loves your son," I added. She smiled.

"I'm almost ready to see everyone again. I just wanted to see you guys first. I know usually a child has a godmother and a godfather, but I want my son to have two godfathers instead. I was hoping you would consider being godfathers," she told us. We both beamed.

"Of course we would!" I assured her. She looked relieved.

"So I have a name now, finally," she added. "Christopher James Malik." I was happy that she was using Zayn's last name. I was wondering all along what her plan would be there.
