There was silence so thick you could cut through it with a knife. I refused to open my eyes again until I felt a hand in mine. Then I opened them wide, to see Zayn standing in front of me smiling. He squeezed my hand and then looked over my shoulder at someone. I don't know who, or what they did, but it was some kind of signal for him...

“Haley... did you say what I think you said?” he asked. I huffed, annoyed. He was going to make me repeat it and humiliate myself further?

“You know what I said, I'm not saying it again. Go ahead and reject me so I can get the humiliation over with!” I told him. His smile widened.

“Why would you think I'd reject you?” he asked. I rolled my eyes.

“Please. Why on earth would you like me back,” I muttered so only he could hear. That wiped the stupid grin off of his face.

“What is that supposed to mean?” he demanded. My eyes widened. Why would that upset him.

“Look at me compared to you, Zayn. I'm nothing like what you deserve,” I whispered. I was intentionally staying quiet enough that our audience couldn't hear me.

“Haley, look at me. Please,” he said, equally quietly. I looked up and met his eyes. “You are so much more than what you seem to see yourself for. You are an amazing dancer, you're a really good singer, you're funny, you're gorgeous, and you are just all around perfect. I'd be stupid not to love you back!”

My eyes flooded with tears. I was still convinced he didn't mean it. I'm not sure he realized that, because he stepped forward to hug me. He was just going to let me down easy now, and I could go cry in a different room. And kill Louis. That sounded like an amazing idea, suddenly. I was even formulating the plan. I'd make it look like an accident, and when they asked me about it, I'd say he fell out of the-

My thoughts cut off abruptly as a pair of lips collided with mine. And suddenly Zayn was kissing me, like he never wanted to stop. And I wasn't freezing up, I was actually kissing him back. It wasn't my first kiss, and I knew it wasn't his. But at that moment, it sure felt like it. He wrapped his arms around my waist and mine just automatically went to his neck, one of them twisting up into his hair. And the miracle: he didn't stop to yell at me for it!

We would have gone on kissing probably all night, but somebody cleared their throat behind us and it made us jump apart in alarm. Then I turned to glare at Louis, who was smirking at me. That did not make me any happier towards him.

“Yes?” I demanded, annoyed.

“Keep it PG, okay kids?” he laughed. I probably would have pounced on him had Zayn not wrapped his arm around my waist to stop me.

“I think we should actually find some privacy now,” he said, winking at me. I nodded, letting him steer me out of the room.

Mica's POV

I watched them leave the room, and immediately jumped up to stop Harry from trying to follow. I knew better than to follow Haley when she got into it like that. I'd had the misfortune of walking in on her one time, and I'd never do it again. I didn't miss the looks he was shooting Zayn when he thought nobody was watching. Someone else clearly liked Hales. Too bad...

“You don't want to be near them for a while. New couple and all. Plus, it sounds like they'll have quite a bit to talk about. But hey, are you guys hungry? I can cook, or we can order pizza,” I offered. Niall smiled at me.

“Pizza sounds good!” he exclaimed, grabbing his phone and already dialing the pizza place down the street. How he already knew the number, I didn't know. I just shrugged and sat on the couch, right on top of Louis.
