My heart was racing as I stepped out onto the stage, completely ready to say no and run. But when my eyes met the person who had the mic, I had to pause. He was gorgeous, with medium brown hair and blue eyes. He was smiling, and it was breath-taking. I kept walking, and looked at the others. They were just as gorgeous, and maybe that's what made me hold my tongue. I decided to not make this a big public thing, and just tell them in private that I'm not interested in performing.

I met Beth's eyes and saw how guilty she looked... maybe I'd let her live. Maybe. They were all smiling at me, and I knew from what I'd looked up before that they were all fairly close to my age. I sighed to myself. How could I tell them no? But this would ruin me, if I agreed, and I knew it.

“Well hello there, Haley. I'm Louis, in case you don't know,” the boy with the mic told me.

Beth handed me the other mic and I shot her an annoyed look. She cringed. “I didn't know. I guess you already know my name... clearly,” I replied, trying to smile.

They all laughed, enjoying the spotlight. I couldn't really stand guys like that, who enjoyed feeding off of the attention of others. It annoyed me. But they seemed okay... I shook it off.

“Well then, this is Liam, and that's Harry, Niall, and Zayn,” he said, pointing at each individual boy. I nodded to each of them in greeting. They each smiled at me.

“Nice to meet you. Now, what is this about exactly?” I asked, as politely as I could manage. I was getting very frustrated, which they only found more amusing.

“You've won a contest, and you'll be coming on tour with us!” Louis exclaimed, throwing an arm over my shoulders. I immediately shook his arm off and crossed my own.

“I'm sorry, I didn't even enter a contest. I'm not sure how I could have won it,” I told them. They all looked slightly confused. Beth took her mic back.

“That's really all the time we have tonight. We'll be celebrating with all of our dancers and their families back at the studio in just an hour! We hope to see you all there!” she called out. She signaled to the crew and they closed the curtains quickly. Beth shut off both mics and gestured for us to walk off the stage.

“I entered you into the competition myself, Haley. I hid cameras in the studio and recorded you dancing. I sent in the tapes and you were selected. I thought this would be the easiest and best way to let you know,” she told us all. I was in shock, and I figured I had to be dreaming.

“But... why? I was perfectly happy with how things were! I don't want to go out on tour with some big band!” I snapped. All five boys stopped in shock.

“Some big band? You were dancing to our song!” the one named Harry said.

“I heard it on the radio when I was in choreograph mode!” I replied.

“And you liked it enough to make a dance? But not enough to come on tour with us and make dances to our other songs? Please, we're kind of desperate. You're our last hope, because our former choreographer quit last month,” Liam begged.

So many thoughts were going through my mind, and they just looked so adorable... I had to nod. And that made Beth cheer, to which I glared at her.

“I'm sorry, but you need this Haley. You need something to keep your mind off of your mother and father,” she whispered to me. If looks could kill, she'd be long dead.

Two days later, my entire flat was packed in a few bags, and I was looking out my window for what might be the last time, and I was trying not to cry. I hadn't traveled ever, and I was a bit nervous.
