Book: Breakaway, Harry Potter Series
Chapter 1: Leaving Home
Word Count: 1077He was going to miss it. The blue walls of his room. The posters, the cabinet and the bed. He was going to miss the window at the side of his room that was conveniently placed so he could talk to his muggle friend next door. He was going to miss his school, and his teachers (even Mr Owen, who dealt out more homework then was needed.)
He was especially gonna miss his parents. His dad, Neal, the wizard who worked for the wizard government. His mum, Katherine, who was a stay at home mother and a girl that used to be one of the most known people at Hogwarts (in the popularity section.)
Jackson's parents had told him about all the wonderful times they had at Hogwarts. How they met, the trouble they got into, the good times and the bad. It sounded like an amazing place but was he really ready to leave his home and go to a place he had only heard about?
Of course, he had met some of the teachers when he went to Diagon Alley to get his stuff. His wand, his books and he even convinced his parents to let him get a kitten. A fluffy white Persian, who he had named Snow, not the most original name but who cares? He already had his stuff packed, a suit case on his bed. He looked down at the small table in front of him, the Hogwarts letter staring back at him. Snow situated in his lap and purring happily every stroke he gave onto the white fur.
He hadn't even left yet and he was already looking forward to the holidays where he got to come back home. Even though he was a pure blood he mostly hung out with muggles. It was hard inviting his friends over and having to make sure no one decided to pop out from his fireplace or make sure his mum didn't decided to charm the pots and pans to clean themselves. He loved magic and anything that had to do with it but it was hard sometimes, especially when you go to a muggle school. He remembered when he told everyone he was leaving, told them he was going away to boarding school. His friends cried and hugged him tight. His teachers smiled at him and told him they were going to miss him. When he walked out of the school for the last time, his name was in big letters on the school board, we're going to miss Jackson Samson. It was short and sweet. They probably wrote the same thing to everyone else that left through the years but he didn't care because he was going to miss them to. More then anything.
He heard the calls of his parents. Telling him it was time to go. He walked over to his bed and put Snow in his cage. Sighing and looking around his room one last time. He wanted to stay. He picked up Snow's cage and held his suitcase, slowly walking out of the door, trying not to look over his shoulder and back into the room. Walking down the stairs was next, he could see his mum waiting at the front door. He took in a big breath, the air filling his lungs and almost making his chest hurt. Each step brought him closer to the bottom, closer to the door and closer to the car.
His mum wrapped an arm around his shoulders and gave him a tight squeeze. The front door was open and the car was in view. Before the courage left him, Jackson walked out, not finding it in himself to look back at the place he had called home for eleven years. His dad took the suitcase and put it in the trunk. It was silent as he hopped in the car, his hand rested against the front of the cage and took comfort in how Snow would occasionally lick his fingers or nuzzle them with her nose. His eyes casted upwards, connecting with the two story house. He took a shaky breath and willed the tears away. He was strong. He wasn't one of them kids who cried because they didn't get what they wanted. He would deal. He would handle it. His mum leaned over from the front seat and held his hands, saying words of comfort. He squeezed his mums hand back tightly, knowing this was the last car ride they would have for a while. His gaze was casted out the window as the car pulled out of the driveway, the light pitter patter of the rain was seen against her window.
Maybe he was so upset because he wasn't really a person who liked change. He liked everything the way it was. Why change something you love. Change can be better. Those were his mothers wisdom filled words that had been ringing through his head since he got the letter, that was addressed to the boy on the second floor, door first to the left. He leaned his head back against his seat, his hands coming up and pulling his beanie down to cover his eyes, and they welcomed the darkness. They were out of his street now. Soon they would be at the train station. Soon he would say goodbye to his parents.
Hogwarts School of Witch Craft and Wizardry. The place that was talked so highly about. Why couldn't he be like every other magical kid and just be excited? He remembered his mum telling him that once they got to the train station they would be meeting the Weasly's. His dad was friends with Arthur so that meant hanging out with his kids. He didn't mind, although only one of their kids was his age. That's why they decided to meet up, so him and Ronald Weasley could sit together and not be alone. It's not like he was antisocial or anything but he would prefer to just sit with Ron. Someone he knew and liked. Snow licked his finger again, and he gently pet the top of the kittens soft head.
And that's when it happened, the moment he had been dreading. The car stopped.

Authors Note: I'm already in love with writing Jackson. He's gonna be so much fun and there going to be character development and just, yay, excited.
