Book: Breakaway, Harry Potter Series
Chapter 3: Let The Feast Begin
Word Count: 2211Jackson walked into the castle next to Ron, Harry and all the other first years. After being lead by a giant man that Harry knew, they crossed a lake in some boats before finally making it to the castle. It was so big and it looked so beautiful. He didn't want to admit it but he was very excited. Though he was getting out of breath by how many stairs they were making the first years climb.
At the top of the stairs was a lady in green robes, her face wrinkled and stern as she scanned her eyes over all the students. "Welcome to Hogwarts." She said and it seemed to echo throughout the whole hall. "Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Now, while you are here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you house points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup."
His mum had been sorted into Ravenclaw while his dad was in Gryffindor. He didn't know which one he wanted to go in. If he had to choose one it would be Gryffindor. The way his dad talked about it made it seem like the best house.
A boy suddenly jumped forward yelling, "Trevor!" Everyone turned to look at him as he picked up a brown toad from in front of the Professors feet. Noticing everyone looking at him, he shrunk away and whimpered, "sorry." And backed up into the crowd. Jackson could only assume that this was the boy that Hermione was talking about earlier.
The Professor didn't look mad, her face staying the same stern look that she had when they all entered. "The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." She said before walking through the massive double doors and disappearing.
"It's true then, what they're saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts." A confident voice called out. Jackson turned around, seeing a boy with platinum blonde hair walking up to them, two followers behind him. "This is Crabbe, and Goyle and I'm Malfoy... Draco Malfoy." It seemed Ron found the name funny because seconds later a snicker left him. Draco whipped his head over, a glare in his eyes. "Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask yours. Red hair, and a hand me down robe? You must be a Weasley. Well soon find that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. Dont want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there."
Jackson glanced down at the hand that was extended for Harry to shake. He glared at the boy, not believing they already had a bully and school hadn't even started yet.
Harry didn't look to happy and made no move to lift his hand, "I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks."
Draco slowly lowered his hand, glaring in embarrassment. A tap on his shoulder made him turn around, seeing Professor McGonagall had come back. Draco glared at them one last time before walking back to his original spot. "We're ready for you now."
