It's now 2:43. I thought, staring upward to the hand carved grandfather clock that laid before me, its little arrows making a clicking sounds in its on rhythm as it seemed to stare back too. Wiping out my cell, I pretend to find it interesting, playing a mini game that I had carelessly downloaded the day before. At lest it was somewhat of a good time waster.
I had arrived at the manor around 12:00 pm today and did my interview exactly at 1:03 pm. If I had known had much more leisurely time I would have gotten some freshly made cinnamon buns at Lucy's bakery, which are to die for but I sadly didn't know any better. I'm intelligent no?
Slowly swinging my legs from left to right like an impatient three year old, I could still hear one of the judges from hell as I called them, throwing their what seemed to be a thousand questions like "Now how old are you miss?" or "Were do you live." and much much more!
Grumbling, I threw one more glance to the clock before feeling standing to my feet. I felt so sure that I could get the job but since they're taking so long I guess they didn't pick me out of all those other girls I saw this afternoon.
It was true though. There were many, many other girls whom had their hair all in cute styles while wearing flattering clothing that probably made the male interviews standing on their toes and picking them in a heartbeat besides me and my boyish outlook at the moment.
Just as I drew in a breath the door from which I had entered to be interrogated- I mean interviewed swung open abruptly, revealing a rather tall and stern body of a woman. Her features alone told me she was in her mid 30s seeing she had dealt with the world's problems.
The outfit she wore was a black business suit with a long skirt that had gray strips running down. Dirty blond hair laid elegantly along her slim shoulders with peach lipstick seemingly becoming thinner as she pressed her lip together in what seemed to be either confusion or irritation. As her eyes swayed from me to the end of the hall were the line of girls once stood, she began to raise a fine brow.
"Where are the others?" It wasn't really directed to anyone in particular, just a being that was in a ten feet radius.
"They all went to prep themselves miss." I answered, seeing the grandfather clock had no room to talk as it continued its never-ending rhythm.
"For what? Being a maid? Those silly girls." Her laugh seemed to withdrew the bitterness within her features as I just sat there, perplexed.
"Might you be Evett?" She suddenly asked sweetly, giving me a bright smile that made some of my worries evaporate. I nodded in reply which just made her eyes sparkle kindly.
"Ah good. From what I heard from my employees, you seem much more into work than..what those girls were into." She exclaimed rather thoughtfully before coming back to reality.
"Hmm?" I was a bit confused by what her words meant, but felt a little better I had gotten a good report from the judges as I like to call them.
"Nothing. I just knew putting signs up for this place would be a target for them. Whatever shall we do without hormonal teenagers?" She muttered under her breath and waved her hand in a non-caring manor while glancing at me.
"Well then, how about a tour?" She asked with a bit of enthusiasm while she grabbed some papers from a nearby chair and began to walk down the open hall.
"You mean of the manor? Wait a minute.." I paused, tying to absorb the information I had just received. Loading..loading..loading..Bing!
"I got the job!?" My slowness will be the death of me but thankfully the women just laughed it off at my now bewildered expression.
