chapter 9: Don't Play With My Heart
'Lets see..If I can get four than I can own that...but if I get twelve..Ooos boardwalk is all mine!' My thoughts were reeling within themselves, calculating the distance in whether to throw the dice at what precise time and how far. From the corner of my eye, I can scarcely see the rest of the people within the huge room watch in mild amusement.
"Just do it! Seriously, there is no thinking involved when trying to roll some dice." Dagan's velvety voice held annoyance as he watches me grinding my hands into the dice. If I hold them any tighter they would surely turn to dust.
"I'm making my thoughts transfer to the dice, telling them what exact number to land on." I glare over my shoulder and continue to shake the daylights out of the dice. I can clearly see the stupefied expression that crossed his face before it was wiped clean with an impassive look.
"Weirdo's and their beliefs." He mutters as he turns around, fixing his eyes on Jeremy who only shrugs. From the corner of my eye I see his green eyes were all smile and charm.
"Hey, this has worked before and I'm not a weirdo. I'm just..unique." I emphasize the word unique, making it clear to Dagan's tiny brain that I wouldn't take his petty insults. In response he just snorts. Brilliant.
"If her idea works, then I'm gana try it" Elizabeth comments and intensely watches me as if she were taking notes. This only made me even more nervous.
"I like to bet you on that Elli." Dagan smirks and motions to Jeremy to join in, who obliges with a nod. Girls vs. Boys has just commenced. When did Monopoly become such a battleground?
"What are the stakes?" I asks and slightly stops my on slot on the dice, which were probably thanking its maker that I did so.
"How about you call both Jeremy and I your masters and do a little dance for us when we ask." Dagan merely replies with an amused appearance as Jeremy holds in a snicker. I could see the wheels spinning within their heads.
"And us?" I question, raising a fine brow.
"They become our slaves for a week of course." Elizabeth says without a second thought. I glance over to see her face was twisted into an evil smile. Oh this will be fun.
"What number are you going for?" Jeremy inquires, studying the availed lots on the board.
"I'm going for a twelve." He and I nod once he finds where the lot I was going for. Dagan just scoffs.
"We got this in the bag." He waves his hand, as if ordering to proceed with my futile plan. God, I want to punch that handsome face of his..wait..handsome? What am I thinking?!
'Here goes nothing.' Without warning I throw the dice onto the board and peek at the results. The dice themselves seem to have a mind of their own and roll onward, adding a grave silence to the room.
Finally, after what seemed half an hour the dice stopped their movement and stared upward, waiting for my reaction.
Twelve.
Boardwalk had a new owner and there was no way Dagan could take his words back now.
I grin and glance upward, seeing that both Jeremy and Dagan had 'Catching flies' expressions while Elli did a cat like grin. The girls won the bets and now the boys were the slaves.
"That doesn't count." Dagan remarks suddenly, while both Elizabeth and I just stare in bewilderment. Jeremy also looks over to him with an n expression matching ours.
"What?" both Elizabeth and I said simultaneously, our once happy faces crumbling in dismay.
"You're still my maid so that cancels the bet." Dagan states and calmly stands up, his face a blank mask as anger builds up inside me.
