Hopefully you're excited. If not, whoever planned it totally is.
Maybe it's the cutest shower you'll ever go too... maybe it's so cheesy you could puke. Or maybe that's just morning sickness again.
Just remind yourself that people are chipping in and saving you a TON of money because baby stuff is so expensive.
You're going to get a lot of things you don't understand and outfits you do not like so practice your fake smile.
Warning!! If you found out the sex of your baby prepare for the pink and blue gifting fest. You'll actually get more clothes than the things you actually need. Another reason I say to wait until baby day to find out the sex. People will be so excited to buy tutus or suit/tie combos that they'll forget you needed a car seat.
You'll also play a bunch of really cheesy games. The older folks LOVE this.
They'll guess how big your belly is (in inches) and then get a prize. They'll play "Baby Bingo" which is just as boring as it sounds.
And then the one game that is just plain weird but it DOES get played so brace yourself... is "Guess the Poop". I'm not joking. I'm not sure why women get a kick out of this.
Basically, you take 5 diapers and inside you squish up different things. So one diaper might have a crushed up Snickers bar. Another may have a chocolate/mustard mashup. Another may just be meat sauce.
You have to smell the "poopy diaper" and guess what's actually in it.
It's seriously so gross but you will experience it at someone's shower one day. Hopefully you can avoid it at yours after reading my warning!
When it comes time to open gifts there are two important things to know.
First, make sure whatever you're wearing isn't too short. You'll have trouble crossing your legs with that big belly and people will be snapping pics. So wear pants or a long dress so you're not revealing yourself!
Second, make sure you delegate a good friend to write down what everyone gives you. You'll need to send out thank you cards asap. People get really offended if you don't thank them for your gift.
Hopefully these tips are helping you.
