Johnny
"Here I got it."
All I did was grab a textbook off a high shelf for a random girl.
Who would've thought that one simple act of kindness would turn into me seeing an old childhood friend again?
My mind kept replaying what happened just earlier today while I was sitting on my bed.
Rosalie Garcia, of all people .
"Thank you! I really appreciate it." the shorter girl turned around and gave me a stunned expression, "Johnny? Jonathan Brady?"
I must have mirrored the way she was feeling, "Rose? Rosalie Garcia?"
"Oh my gosh, how long has it been?"
"Too long. I've missed you!"
We both shook ourselves of the shock and I just hugged her, she hugged me back. "Wow, you haven't lost your touch. The famous Johnny hug!"
Someone hushed us, "Rose, still as loud and vibrant as ever," we pulled apart and I felt my face smile wide, "So, how are you? How is everything?"
Our conversation went on without a hitch, there were no awkward pauses or bad feelings between us. I guess I can say that our reunion was pretty natural.
It was like being in the second grade again, sitting and chatting with a girl that had a fiery personality and no problem showing the rest of the world.
I can't say I remember her all that well from the last time I saw her, but Rosalie isn't a girl that you can just forget. She no longer had pigtails and braces, obviously puberty definitely did her well. Her hair grew very long and darker in shades, her smile is still as radiant as ever, and as a guy, I must appreciate her toned and nicely curved body.
I could've sworn the last time I saw her was sometime before middle school started and she was sporting a Justin Bieber sweat shirt and high ponytails.
Where did all the time go?
When she was talking to me, I was trying hard not to get lost in her eyes.
I wish so badly that I would've gotten more time with her.
We were just two kids sitting on a swing set one day and then we became strangers, as sad as it is to say.
I wanted to ask Rose more things and catch up, but the lunch period was coming to an end. Then Erica came and I was glad to meet her, but I don't think she had anything on Rose. Can't compare.
I was bummed she didn't have free time tonight, but at least I could see her at the rally. She's a dancer now and I didn't need anyone to tell me that she was going to amaze me, I look at her and I can just tell.
Then I heard a knock at my door.
"Come in!"
My mom poked her head in and smiled, "Hey, there's my baby boy!"
"Mom, I'm a senior now.. do you still have to baby me?"
"Have to, want to, it's really all the same thing to me. Any mother would do this to their child. I love you for goodness sakes!"
I couldn't help but laugh at her and get up to hug her, "I love you too, mom."
"There's the correct response," she squeezed me back before letting go, "So, how was your first week at the new school?"
"It was pretty standard."
"New friends? Did you join the basketball team yet? Any cute girls?"
"Mom! Slow your roll!"
