Rosalie
My phone was buzzing at multiple texts from Erica.
Erica: Where are you?! (5:20 pm)
Erica: Will Johnny be here?! (5:22 pm)
Erica: If Noah's the reason you're running late, I swear I'll hit him. (5:30 pm)
Erica: Hurry, the team and I need you! And the principal too... but mostly ME! (5:38 pm)
Noah and I were pulling into the senior parking lot, I shook my head and laughed.
"Erica's usual freak out?"
"Yep. I don't know why, she can be as cool as a cucumber when we're performing or giving small speeches."
"That's because you give her the initial push, you know, like she does with you and boys or outfits. Except you help her with the practical stuff."
"You're right, c'mon we better hurry or she'll have your head."
"Like that's new."
We pushed through the school's entrance and soon enough the gym doors, just in time to find a freaked out Erica.
She turned to us, ran over, and started pulling me away from Noah, "Thank god you're here! We need to finish the decorations and prep for your opening speech."
She scowled at me, "You made her late."
He stuck his tongue out at her, "Not everything is my fault!"
"Is too."
"Is not."
"IS TOO."
"IS NOT."
I stepped in between them, "Children, please. We got things to do. Erica, with me. Noah, go talk to your boys! First game, wouldn't wanna screw up."
Noah faked hurt, "Don't even joke. We've managed undefeated seasons before and they have a grade A captain."
"Rosalie, did you hear that?"
I looked at Erica, "What?"
"It's the sound of Noah's airhead inflating."
We high five, "Couldn't agree more with you girl!"
"You guys suck," he looked behind us, "DREW BABY! Save me from these mean girls!"
He ran to Drew and jumped on him, causing the both of them to stumble and almost fall to the ground.
Drew shouted, "I've got you boo, ignore them!"
Erica scoffed, "I swear they could be secretly gay, especially for each other."
"Hey!! We heard that! We're straight as rulers!"
"More like rainbows!"
Drew put Noah down and placed his hands on his hips, mimicking me and Erica's stance, "You guys are just jealous that we're closer!"
"Oh, is that right? Ro and I are so close we know each other's bra sizes!"
The boys then showed discomfort on their face, "Okay, well.. uh, stop distracting us! Captain's gotta talk to his team before we go out on the court."
Noah and Drew finally shut up and turned back to their team, letting Erica and I set out to work.
I clutched my stomach while laughing and wiped pretend tears out of my eyes, "Good one Erica. And I agree, what a bromance that has been long cooking between those two. Now let's go, we have to make this gym fit for a spirit rally."
