Saturday.
Today was the day. My date with Johnny is tonight.
Erica said to wait it out and let nature take its course with Noah and his disliking to the idea, but there's always an elephant in the room — especially when we're sitting at the lunch table with Johnny.
Enough, Ro. Do something about it.
I got fed up with myself and the mess of thoughts that was drowning me.
I am going on a date with Johnny tonight and Noah's reaction or opinion will not control me.
Before I knew it, I had my car keys in my hand and I was out the house. No one was home today because my mom got called in early to the hospital, so I didn't bother leaving a note.
I drove to Noah's house and I hit the doorbell a few times.
His mom came out and smiled once she saw me, "Morning sweetheart, what can I do for you?"
"Is Noah home? I need to speak with him." I said in a polite, but firm tone.
"Uh oh, what did he do now?"
"He's just being his stubborn self."
"Alright, good luck my dear. We both know how childish he can get."
I nodded in agreement and she let me through the door. I heard the sounds of a familiar show coming from the family room, I went through the door to find Jules watching Kim Possible.
"Hey baby girl!"
She turned around at the sound of my voice and shot up, sprinting towards me. "RoRo!"
"JuJu!"
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to see your brother, but of course I have to say hi to my mini me."
Noah tells me that his sister is really taking after me and that he's proud. My heart melts every time.
"Hehe, hi big me! What did brobro do?"
"He's just acting silly right now."
"Are you gonna teach him a lesson?"
I laughed and shook my head, "Maybe. Enjoy your cartoons, okay?"
"I will! You can play with me after if you want."
"Of course!" I gave her one last hug and headed for Noah's room.
I opened the door slowly and saw that he was still sleeping. He looked so peaceful. I almost felt guilty because I was about to ruin that.
I leaned in by his ear and whispered, "Noah."
"Yes, mommy?" He asked in a sleepy whisper.
I pulled the blankets off of him and his eyes flung open, he screamed and fell out of bed in the process too. I clutched my stomach and I couldn't contain my laughter.
"Good morning, sleepyhead!"
"You're not mommy!" He picked himself up off the floor and yanked his blankets away from me, repositioning himself on the bed. "It was good until you scared the heck out of me. What's your problem?!"
I sat on right in front of him and mustered up my best puppy dog face. "I'm sorry, but I wanted to see you and I even brought you animal crackers. Give me attention, please!"
I handed him the packet of graham cracker goodness and he smiled, "It's like third grade all over again." His face softened up, "Can't say no to your dang puppy dog face. Ever."
