"This is amazing." I marveled, looking at the perfect image on Zack's iPad.
"I spent two hours on that, I just hope he wants it to be his cover." He said proudly, stopping behind rows of cars in the famous New York traffic.
"Of course he would!" I said, handing the iPad back to him. "If you want, I can help get you a job at one of the Vogue offices." I suggested. They'll pay a lot more for him, especially if I wrote a letter of recommendation. Also because I've been on so many of their covers I've nearly forgotten the number.
"Oh, it's okay." He said, his voice growing a little quieter. This meant he was starting to feel guilty compared to someone like me, able to destroy a designer fashion show just by refusing a special arrangement.
"Anyways, how was today?" Zack asked, sighing as it looked like we weren't going to move for another half an hour.
"It was. . ." I chewed my lip, trying to think of an appropriate response. "Okay. I haven't really been back in school for a long time, so."
He nodded. "Anyways. Where are we supposed to go after this?" He asked.
"Fashion week's over. I'm free." I stretched out in the front seat then realized something.
"Can you take me to the VS shoot? Show's in November and they need to get everything modified and ready."
"Already?" He asked and I jumped in my seat. "Yes, already. Didn't I tell you this a long time ago?" I teased, trying to keep my expression neutral so I could finally exploit him in one of his rare forgetful moments.
"Well, yeah." He said shyly, color rising to his cheeks. Then we burst out laughing together.
"Anyways, go to SoHo and I'll point the studio out to you. If you want to come in, I think you can." I said as he made a turn to go on the correct street.
Somehow, traffic lessened a little so we were picking up our pace a little bit.
"So who're you shooting with?" He asked casually. I grinned, knowing he was more than ready to see five women in heels and lingerie.
"Why do you need to know?" I asked, poking his muscled bicep. "Because." He swallowed, his Adam's apple bobbing.
"It's okay Zack, you don't have to tell me." I stuck my tongue out at him. "But anyways, I'm with Behati, Lily, and Elsa for category pictures. But everyone else will be there." I said, listing off the names I got from the text.
"What seasons are you shooting for?" He asked. I beamed, glad that he was picking up on all this modelling mumbo jumbo.
"Summer and winter. When the fashion shows come along, there won't be any time to do fittings and shoots. We also have to do the video for the beginning of the fashion show, then we get the new wings much later. But I'm getting some, despite what Daniela said." I finished, and saw our building.
"That one!" I pointed at it excitedly.
Like Karlie said, one can hate modelling. Once can hate walking around in lacy underwear and bejeweled bras.
But even the most introverted of us all have always aimed for Victoria's Secret. And while I wasn't ready to admit that I was too, I was still excited as I practically jumped out of the car.
"Come on Zack!" I called impatiently as he checked to make sure his car was locked.
"Coming." He said, rolling his eyes as I bounced up the stairs.
"You can sit next to the photographer if you want, or at the table where there'll be refreshments." Everything came out quickly and as soon as I opened the door and all the angels came rushing at me, I realized something.
