16| Lamb Chops

"Hey, I heard you became an Angel today." Said Jay's voice through the speakers of my phone. I was reviewing my schedule for the month, glad that fashion week was over so I could relax for once. 

"Oh yeah, I did!" I smiled. It being April meant that July haute couture will be having runways for me soon. 

"Hey, Caprina!" Jay shouted and the smile fell off my face. While I knew millions of people were looking at the E! Online article about my VS success, I was somehow uncomfortable with Caprina knowing. 

"She's like Vanessa from Gossip Girl." I muttered sourly, though knowing she really didn't deserve all the thoughts I had of her. 

"Did you know Skyler became an Angel today?" Jay said excitedly and I heard Caprina's squeal in the background. I tried to act glad she was happy for my success, but I was more than ready to explode. 

Actually, what I'd really like to do right now is bash Jay's head against the table. How can boys be so oblivious?

"Congratulations, Skyler!" Caprina said. "What do your wings look like?" She asked, sounding a little breathless. 

"They're beautiful! They're going for a bird theme for me this year, it's insane! This year's show is going to be a hit!" I said, inserting as much enthusiasm into my voice as I could. 

I was happy, I truly was. Just not that Caprina knew and I was now talking to her.

"Oh, that's so cool! Me and Jay are going to The Little Owl for dinner, come with?" Caprina asked. 

It's Jay and I, not me and Jay, I thought, annoyed at how she couldn't even get her grammar correct. 

"What time?" I asked, now thinking of how many famous friends I could call to whine about my distress to. 

"7:30, we have reservations." Caprina chirped. 

My blood ran cold. "Yeah, I'll be there. Mind if I bring someone?" I faked a sweet voice.

"Of course not! Jay and I'll pick you up 10 minutes before our reservations." She said, then hung up on me. 

I stared at the phone, dumbfounded. I barely talked to Jay at all, and I called mainly to tell him about my success!

I sighed and sent a group text to everyone I knew who was in New York today or tomorrow.

I grinned, sometimes celebrity friends were more reliable than "ordinary" friends. While you can have the same bond and things to do, I always felt that since we were more busy, we really valued our time. We always made time for each other, whether we were sleep-deprived or not. And for whatever readon we needed to cancel, we knew  how important it was to tell the other if one of us couldn't make it. 

But what I really wanted aside from lots of Lush face masks and nail painting was to talk about Jay. 

I glanced at the clock after throwing my phone to the side. "Crap." I muttered, seeing it was already 6. Zack was almost done with his internship, so I quickly changed into something more comfortable.
