I swear that was the longest journey of my life so far, and I was only at Singapore, I still had another 7 hours and 20 minutes to go. We had to wait over 4 hours for our connecting flight, not long enough to go out and do stuff but long enough to get bored at the airport, after all there was only so many times you could walk around duty free. As soon as I turned my phone on a message popped up. It was from Luke.

“The longest part of your journey is over now. Not to long until you’re here :D” I gave him a call because I needed something to do and I knew he that he should still be up. We spoke on the phone for over an hour before I heard his mum shouting at him in the background to get off the phone because his dinner was ready. It was a nice way to break up the time, now there were only 2 and a half hours to wait until we took off once again. I was feeling super tired because we had been on the plane for nearly 11 hours and I hadn’t slept at all but quite frankly I didn’t care, the excitement was keeping up more than the nerves now. As the length of time left before our final flight went down and down, my excitement went up and up until I didn’t think I was going to be able to contain it anymore.

It got to the time that our gate number was announced and we headed straight down there. I had picked up a few things in duty free that I had seen because I had looked around so many times I couldn’t bare to leave them there. I bought a few makeup things for me that hadn’t been released in England yet and a little present for Luke, it wasn’t much but I wanted to get him something. After we boarded the plane, we had about 15 minutes before take off so we got comfy and prepared, putting my iPad and headphones in the pocket of the seat in front and my phone back on airplane mode. I had mean girls to watch for this leg of the journey, mainly because it reminded me so much of Luke and made me laugh, because he always cracked out funny mean girls quotes from the top of his head whenever they fitted with the situation. I also wanted to try and get some sleep on the flight, as I didn’t want to be too tired and grumpy for my first day in Glenroy.

We arrived in Melbourne at 7:20am, which meant that we would have the whole day there still. We went through security and collected our bags, worried incase our luggage had been lost on the changeover from the first flight to the second. One by one we got our bags, first my mum and dad, then my brother but mine was still nowhere to be seen. I instantly panicked at the thought of having none of my stuff with me, and slowly every bag on the conveyer belt began to disappear. Eventually, another smaller batch of suitcases were loaded on and thankfully mine was there. Phew, panic over.

As I walked out of the arrivals gate, I saw my beautiful boyfriend standing in the distance, scanning all of the arriving people in search for me. I left my suitcase with my mum and ran over to him. As he noticed me running like an idiot towards him, pushing through the crowds of people, he smiled. As I got closer, I opened out my arms for a hug and he too did the same. He picked me up off the ground, holding me tightly as if he was never going to let go. In honesty I didn’t want him to. I loved the feeling of his arms around my waist, the warmth of his body next to mine; it just made me feel so secure. It brought back all of the feelings that I felt the first time I’d ever met him at the airport in London. That sudden feeling brought floods of tears to my eyes, but happy tears this time. Knowing that I had seven weeks with my boyfriend now was the best feeling in the world. As he put me down, I looked up at him and he looked worriedly down at me.

“Why are you crying gorgeous?” he asked whilst wiping the tears from my eyes

“I’m so happy to be here with you right now, and knowing we don’t have to be apart for nearly two months was just a bit overwhelming,” I managed to get out in between my sobs. He smiled.

“I know,” Luke said, “I cannot believe it, I’m so happy you’re here. And just think, when you move it’ll be like this every single day!” The thought of it made me smile. I couldn’t wait.

My family was staying in a hotel just down the road from the Brooks household but Luke’s mum, Gina, said that they had a spare bedroom I could stay in if I wanted to. Is there any point in saying that I jumped at the chance? It meant that Luke and I could be together first thing when we woke up right up until we went to bed. We had rented a car because we were staying for so long and we wanted to be able to get around and visit some different places, so my parents and brother got into that but as Luke had driven up to the airport to meet me, I went back in his car to his house to unpack. His house was literally a 10-minute drive from the airport, meaning there wasn’t much time to catch up in the car, so we left it for when we got back to his.

I was met by Gina, Jai and Beau, who each gave me a hug, introduced themselves and welcomed me to Melbourne. No one understood how excited I was to be there. Gina gave me a quick tour of their house and then showed me to my room. Luke carried my suitcase in from the car and helped me to unpack.

“I’m so happy you’re here,” Luke said with a smile,

“I’m so happy to be here Lukey,” I couldn’t remove the grin from my face. There was just something about being around Luke that made me so happy, and seeing him in his own home surrounded by his family, laughing and joking with his brothers, made me even happier. I stopped unpacking for a minute and walked over to Luke, who was sitting on the bed chatting to me, and sat next to him cross-legged.

“Come here,” I said before moving myself closer to him, putting my arms around his neck and kissed him. God it felt so good to feel his lips on mine once again.

“What was that for?” Luke said

“Isn’t a girl allowed to kiss her boyfriend without a reason anymore?” He chuckled and pulled me up off the bed to continue packing.

Once I was fully unpacked we went downstairs so we could spend some time with the others. We walked into the living room and looked for a space to sit, but Gina quickly moved up to make space for us on the sofa. We quickly all got chatting. They asked me how my flight was and what I thought of Australia so far, the usual questions you get asked.

“Does anyone want a drink?” Gina asked, and all the boys quickly replied with a yes as if they hadn’t had a drink in over a year.

“I’ll come and help you,” I said. It would be nice to have a little chat with Gina alone, and it would give a chance to thank her for letting me stay. Before I could even begin to say anything, she said,

“I’ve never seen Luke so happy, he’s rarely been in a bad mood since you two got together,” hearing Gina say that made me so happy. We walked back in with the drinks and saw the boys had already turned to play fighting. I ran over to them and jokingly pushed Luke off of Jai,

“Hey! Be careful with him!” I joked

“I thought you were supposed to be on my side?” Luke replied with a pretend frown on his face. Jai and I looked at each other, smiled and high fived,

“I think we won my friend,” I said,

“I think we did!” Jai replied. Beau came running over to us telling us how left out he felt and him and Luke decided to team up. We were all mucking around and play fighting for a good hour or so before the jet lag hit me really badly and I sat out. We all laid on the sofas, worn out from our antics, and watched a movie. Luke and I curled up together, which received plenty of teasing comments and forced gagging from Jai and Beau, but we didn’t care, we were just happy to be together.

Later that evening I headed off to bed, worn out from all the travelling I had endured that day. I said goodnight to Gina and the boys, and Luke came in to kiss me goodnight and give me a hug before returning to the living room, as it was still only early. Putting my phone on charge at the side of my bed, I smiled as the screen lit up and I saw my home screen; it was a photo of me smiling stupidly whilst Luke kissed my cheek. I fell asleep before my head hit the pillow and dreamed of Luke and I spending all of our time together in Australia.
