The following morning, I woke up super early to make sure that I looked my best. Although we had met before, this time meant so much more to me. We were on our own together all day; it seemed unreal. My dad and I left with plenty of time to spare so I wasn’t late, that would have been the worst thing! As I stood waiting in the airport arrivals lounge at 6am crazy thoughts ran through my mind. Was he actually coming? Why did he ask to see me? Then I saw him strut from around the corner sleepily, carrying his overnight bag over his shoulder. God he looked perfect. As we caught eye contact, his movement became a little faster, and as he stood in front of me, he reached out and hugged me tightly, as if he was never going to let go. We greeted each other and I asked how his flight was, although he looked half asleep.
“Come on,” I said “let’s get to the car, you look tired!” Sure enough he fell asleep in the car on the way home, his head resting on my shoulder. I let him sleep for the whole journey home; after all he had travelled down on his day off to see me, even though he was probably ridiculously jetlagged. As we pulled up outside my house, I tapped him unwillingly on the arm. He rubbed his eyes and ran his fingers through his hair as he woke. I smiled. He looked so beautiful when he did that.
“What are you smiling at?” he joked
“Nothing,” I replied with a giggle.
As I opened the front door, my mum was standing in the hallway as if she was waiting for us to get back – she’s so embarrassing. She walked over to Luke and introduced herself, he did the same and then they had a brief, awkward hug. This was the first time I had ever brought a boy over to my house, so it was just as awkward for me as it must have been for Luke. Then my little brother, Matthew, came bounding out of the dining room, with a dent in his hair where he had obviously been wearing headphones, and ran straight up to Luke.
“Hey,” he said, “I’m Matthew, what’s it like filming for the Janoskians and Daresundays? It looks so cool.” Thanks Matt, nothing like breaking the silence.
“Yeah it’s really cool. A bit embarrassing sometimes and the challenges make you feel so sick, but it’s all worth it and such a laugh!” replied Luke. They got on like a house on fire. Matthew and Luke sat chatting for ages about the most random things; it made me smile seeing them get on so well as I stood in the doorway of our living room watching over them. Luke must have caught me watching them as he smiled and tapped his hand on the sofa next to him, signaling for me to sit down.
“Are you not tired?” I asked. He had been up since the early hours of the morning and I knew he wouldn’t have got any sleep on the plane, or much the night before because the boys would’ve kept him up.
“A little,”
“I’m gunna take your stuff upstairs to your room, I’ll see you up there?” I asked
“Yeah, I’ll be up in a minute babe,” at least he was enjoying himself.
About 15 minutes later, I heard footsteps up the stairs and then Luke’s head popped around the door, like a lost puppy. He smiled when he realised he had gone straight to the right room, although it wasn’t hard as it was the first one up the stairs. He walked over to me slowly and threw his arms around me, hugging me tightly from behind. I turned around and smiled. He kissed me passionately on the lips. I could feel a smile emerge on his face as we kissed, and when we stopped he said:
“I’ve been waiting to do that all morning,” he chuckled, looking rather pleased with himself. I looked him in the eyes before going back in for another kiss to show him I felt the same.
We unpacked the rest of his stuff, putting his toiletries in our bathroom cabinet and his clothes into the wardrobe in the spare room, before falling back onto the bed almost breathless. We just laid there for a while, enjoying each other’s company.
“I’m so glad you bought those meet and greet tickets,” Luke said, breaking the silence, “otherwise I wouldn’t have met you,” I took a moment to reply.
“I’m glad you messaged me on twitter, otherwise I would have just been another fan to you guys,” I replied
“You were never just another fan to me, from the minute you walked in I fell in love with you, all the boys knew it, they were taking the mick out of me when you left the room,” Luke blushed as he said this as if it was hard for him to admit,
“I fell in love with you before you even knew I existed!” I said whilst laughing, as sad as it was, it was true. It was still only early in the morning, about 8:30, so I decided to take Luke out on a tour of the area and a walk through the fields at the top of my road.
