Kayal's POV
I am fairly good at handling babies, toddlers and kids, but immature adults are not my cup of tea. I am struggling with Karishma for the past half an hour, because she wants to propose Salim. She came to me asking about all things Tamil men like. I told her a lot of times that he is engaged and is very serious about his relationship. But she still doesn't mind. Finally she said, "I am now leaving to propose him. I don't mind if he is engaged. There are high chances that he might have been forced to get engaged to some school dropout cousin of his. Breaking engagement is in vogue. I feel bad for not having seen him till now. I have four more days to woo him and just see how I woo him."
With that she left. Only word which came to my mind was, 'Idiot.' I did the only thing which I could do now. I called Salim in my mobile. He took it within two rings. "Sollu ma (Tell me ma), any problem?"
Why does he think that I will call him with a problem? It took me a moment to realize, that this is the first time I am calling him after our engagement. The previous two times were during Jaanu's death. Oh my God. "Salim, don't worry. Nothing serious. But yes, there is a problem. Not for me, but for you. And I am going to help you come out of it."
"Problem for me?"
"Yes, do you know Karishma from Mass Comm Department?"
"No, I don't know."
"I am not surprised. Today she sat in the same room with us in the examination hall. She is very much impressed with your physical features. So she is coming towards you to propose."
"What??? Did you tell her that I am engaged?"
I started following Karishma. She was walking towards library. Salim prefers to read in the little roundtanna outside our library. "Yes, I told her that. But she told me that she can woo you so nicely that you can break your engagement for her."
"So cheap???? Doesn't she know that I am a Muslim?"
"She told me that she is willing to convert to Islam for you and learn Tamil as well."
"Reverting to Islam is not a joke."
"I know that. But she doesn't mind."
"Kayalllllllll."
"Relax Salim. I am going to teach you how to handle such women. First, she will reach you in a minute. I will keep the phone down within few seconds. But you keep on talking as if you are talking to your lover. Be very cheesy and romantic. You are actually very romantic. But for a moment, forget about all Halaal rules and talk your heart out because you are not going to actually speak to me, but you will be speaking just in your phone. Looking at you in a very romantic form with your lover over phone, she may think that it is a bad idea to woo you because she is of the assumption that you might have been forcibly engaged to some cousin of yours. If she still insists, you can be a little rude to her. Okay? She will reach in another ten seconds. I am keeping the phone down now."
"Not okay. I don't want to speak such a woman without a chaperone. You stay on the line."
"Haaaaaa Salim, she is behind you now."
He took a heavy breath, and said, "I miss you. I miss you with each and every breath of mine. Till the day I proposed you, I was thinking that nobody can love more than the way I love you. But you proved me wrong. You showed me that love is neither yours nor mine, it is ours. Did I tell you how much I liked the logo you created for us? I hardly remove the watch which you gifted me. Sometimes I fantasize seeing your face in that watch."
