Salim's POV
Teenage boys do this for their crush. I feel a little embarrassed to do this for my wife. But since my Azhagi (Beautiful woman) is my first love, this is my first experience in sneaking around a woman's house. After my two weeks of training, today I have returned to Chennai in an early morning flight. I had told Kayal that my flight is in the late morning. Sun hasn't risen yet. It was pretty dark. Yesterday, I called my Maama (Uncle, Father in law) to request permission to meet my wife for half an hour, early in the morning. He said, he will consult with Athai (Aunty, Mother in law) and let me know. Alhamdulillah, Athai also agreed. The cab driver who dropped me and was waiting for me to return gave me a cheap look when I sneaked inside. But I didn't care. I had asked Maama to keep the main gate open and Kayal's balcony's door open.
I jumped inside the balcony and kept the gift bag in the corner. I then moved inside her room. The room was dimly lit with a small light bulb. Since we will be marrying within a week, one of Athai's aunt has come down to stay with them. That Paati (Grandmother, Mother in law's Aunt is a grandmother) sleeps in Kayal's bedroom because she thinks that a bride to be shouldn't sleep alone. I think that paati was sleeping in a separate cot in the other side of the room. My Azhagi was sleeping by cuddling a pillow. I wanted to throw that pillow away from her and let her snuggle in my chest right then, but when I saw the pillow a little closely I was surprised. Instead of pillow cover that pillow was wearing my jhubba, the jhubba which I wore for Nikkah. I searched for this jhubba in our home for a long time. At last I thought of searching for it after returning from Singapore. My Azhagi has flicked it from me. I immediately lifted her in bridal style and went towards the balcony swing. She immediately woke up and recognized me, just by my touch. She whisper yelled, "Salim." That's so sweet. At last when we reached the swing and I settled her in my lap, I said, "Yey Azhagi (Hey beautiful), this is not a dream. I have really come."
"I can't believe this."
I took that sweet lip of hers in a kiss. "Can you believe it now?"
She nodded her head and touched my face, my head, and my shoulders, "How are you?"
"I am suffering from Pasalai noi (A disease the lover causes by leaving his beloved suffering from pangs of separation. The beloved gets pale, thin and simply languishes)."
She slightly laughed and said, "Salim, only women suffer from Pasalai noi."
"No, I too miss my wife. I miss her smile, hug, kiss, her company everything. You can even see my hand, my wrist watch has become really loose now."
She took my hand in hers and kept it in her cheeks. "I missed you more Salim."
"Yes, I wanted to sing 'Kaiyil midhakum kaatra nee'(Are you the air floating in my hands? Meaning you are really weightless) song for you while carrying you. You have grown a little thin."
Even though I couldn't see her smile, I knew she smiled. "Don't worry, my bangles and my ring are still in their respective places. Now give me a second, let me close the door and switch on the light." With that she got up and closed the door. When she returned she sat next to me. I pulled her for a side hug.
"My Appa (Father) and Amma (Mother) will be pissed off if they see us like this."
"I don't think so."
"Why?"
"Because, I got their permission last night to meet you for half an hour."
She laughed, "Salim, you got permission for sneaking inside my room?"
