The 10 Gateways

Falling Behind Part 1

I awoke to a clap of thunder roaring in my ear. I opened my eyes to greet a grassy area, but looking out presented the peaks of many mountains. It also showed that we were on the tallest one out of them all. I slowly stood up as lightning and thunder seemed to surround me. I saw that we were on top of a mountain. It has a pretty big flat area on the top of it, where the rest of the group was. I looked up at the clouds. They had a red ambient to them as the storm raged on. I could also hear Christina's laughter that followed the thunder. 

I took in the surroundings and recognized it as the Danville Mountains in Swynia. I noticed as a few others slowly got up. We stood strong as we looked around, finally spotting Christina floating in the air a few feet away from the area we were standing on.

"This is where your journey comes to an end," Christina said. "You've traveled through the 10 gateways and found the destinations, leading you to a final fight. Powered by Rex, I have the power to defeat you."

"Or do you? We have enough people here. We can easily take you down." Epic announced.

"Then why don't you try?" Christina mocked.

Victor, Dr. Roberto, Jenny, Henry, and I walked forward a bit. Some others like Katherine and Xavier stood a little behind, scared.

"We will," I said.

There was little to no pause as Christina turned around and shot the red light at us. We all dodged, running around. I realized that there would never be a chance to get a good hit at her. She made my hair turn into lava, maybe it gave me some powers. It'd be the only way to win this battle.

As I focused and tried to summon anything, maybe the red light, all of us dodged her attacks. After a while, I couldn't do anything. I didn't summon any powers or create anything. We were just running around and Christina laughed almost the entire time. 

Then, she stopped and the red light stopped as well. I looked up at her to be staring at something. I followed her stare, and floating in the air, glowing with a yellow and green light, was Jenny. Flying with her fairy wings. 

"Wha..?" Christina sat in surprise and then started smiling and laughing. "Crazy Valley got to you, didn't it?"

"It did, but now I can use it for good," Jenny said as her wings folded back a little, and she blasted into Christina. 

The two started punching, slapping and shoving each other in the air. Jenny got a pretty good punch in and slammed her into the ground, near the rest of us. 

I ran over to Christina, where she laid, groaning.

"That was pretty quick." I acknowledged.

"It's not over, brother," Christina said as she did a quick maneuver and grabbed my head. She threw me to the ground, making me slide along the ground for a few feet. 

"Epic!" Jenny yelled, but I barely heard her.

Everything seemed muted as I struggled to get up, and I realized Victor was next to me, helping me up.

I looked back at Christina, as she started shooting red light again, to clear the crowd around her. She hit some people like Andrew. And then I saw Melissa. Christina threw red light right at her, and she went down. 

" Melissa!" I yelled really loud.

"Love always fails in the battlefield. You should really learn to do better." Christina said.

Christina shot another red bolt right at Victor, and he was holding me up. He got hit and he went down, bringing me down with him. I got on my knees to try to get up. I looked up to see Christina right there, holding red light bolts in her hands. She shot them around me, as I rolled according to where she shot. Finally, I jumped up and grabbed her shoulders, pushing her down. I punched her in the face, as she just laughed at me.
