*Aspen's POV*"I can't believe I got accepted into both colleges. Now I have to pick.", I say and look at Brody.
"Well which one's closer?", he says.
"Iowa. Why?", I say and he smiles.
"Well you know. I thought you would pick the closer one.", he says and my smile fades.
"Well I have to think about which one is the better college. Which one has the better graduating percentages.", I say and he looks at me.
"Babe none of that matters.", he says and I scoff.
"Brody. I'm talking about my future. My life. Doesn't that matter a little more than being able to see me?", I say and he clenches his jaw.
"I thought that what we had mattered a little more than our futures. I thought we were each other's future. But I guess not.", he says and I feel a lump in my throat.
"Brody. Stop. Don't say stuff like that. I wanna spend time with you and I wanna be with, but I need to think about my career.", I say and feel a tear role down my face.
"You know you're the only good thing in my fucked up life. Okay? My dad, used to beat the crap out of me. Sometimes he still does. And my mom, she's an alcoholic. She may not seem like a drinker, but trust me when the night comes she'll down every liquor store there is.", he says and more tears pour out of my eyes.
I close my eyes and remember on our first date how there were bruises and scars on his back.
"Well I guess we have one more thing in common then we thought.", I say and he looks at me.
"What?", he says and I look at him.
"My dad, before he left, was a very violent person. I remember he used to come home and I would run and hide in my room. I could hear my mom screaming for him to stop. But he never did.", I say and walk over to the dresser.
"Well I guess that's all we have left. Our memories. I hope you have fun at Columbia. I just wish you would stay.", he says and walks out of my house.
I walk over to my window and watch him drive off. I stand there for a moment before grabbing a book off my dresser and throwing it at my mirror. I watch as the glass falls to the floor in what looks like a million pieces.
I slide down the wall and bring my knees to my chest.
"All this because I want to go to a further college. Why are relationships this hard?", I say as the tears keep flowing.
*Sage's POV*
I grab a box from under my bed and open it. I look through the pictures while the tears flow down my face.
My phone starts ringing and I look at the name before answering it.
"Hey.", I say and wipe the tears off my face.
"Hey. Are you okay?", Aspen says and I let out a faint cry.
"No. Why do you sound like you've been crying?", I say and she chuckles.
"I guess we both had a terrible day.", she says and I chuckle.
"You wanna come over? I have ice cream and scary movies.", I say and I can hear weeping on the other end.
"Yeah. I'll be there in twenty.", she says and I hang up.
"God damnit. If anything you were supposed to make her happy? For once make her happy.", I say to myself and slide the box of pictures back under my bed.
I walk down the stairs and grab the movies. I set the movies on the table and wait for Aspen to get here.
After about fifteen minutes, she finally gets here and I open the door. We both look at each other for a minute before we hug each other tightly.
"I know.", she says and rubs my back. I cry into her shoulder before closing the door.
*Ryker's POV*
I bang on Heagyn's door until he finally opens it.
"What took you so long?", I say and walk past him.
"Well I was taking a shower. That might explain the wet hair.", he says pointing at his head.
I chuckle then say, "Your parents still out of town?"
"Yeah why?", he says while drying his hair.
"Cause I wanna drink.", I say and grab a bottle of scotch out of the liquor cabinet.
"Bad day?", he says and I give him the finger.
"I don't understand why she has to go to college so far away. Why can't she go here?", I say and take a gulp of the liquid.
"So this is what this is about.", he says and sits next to me.
"Yeah kinda.", I say and he nods knowing not to push any further.
"If I were you. I'd try and make things right. Cause girls like her don't come around every day.", he says and I take another gulp of the scotch.
