Chapter 7: Cleaning Day

You woke up in a fairly cheerful mood ...and then you remembered it was cleaning day. "Oh well, it'll be over soon" you yawned. You got changed and ready to head downstairs, then locked your room.

Once you arrived at the mess hall you saw that Sasha was looking anxious about something. She looked as if she was waiting for you for some reason so you went over to her. "Hey Sasha, you alright?" She looked like she was in trouble about something. This confused you until you remembered what she'd told you the other day. "Heh... well, you know that rabbit I told you about..." You nodded slowly and she began to whisper. "I may or may not be having some trouble locating it." She said with a worried grin on her face. "You lost the rabbit?!" You stared at her in disbelieve. "...Little bit." At this point your face was in the palm of your hand and you sighed. "Well done." She began to speak up again, "Look! It'll be fine! Just if you see a rabbit somewhere in the castle while you're cleaning then catch it and get it back to me." You removed your hand from your face and stared her in the eyes. "It's somewhere in the castle? Sasha, you're screwed. You know that, right?" Her optimistic face grew more worried. "...Yeah... maybe..." You turned to head to kitchen and get some breakfast "Well, goodluck with your run-away rabbit and let's just pray that it isn't found by anyone else." You said jokingly as you walked away. "Ha, thanks (f/n)." Muttered Sasha with a smile.

Once everyone had finished eating and were lined up, you were assigned your cleaning duties for the day. By the Captain of corse. On cleaning days it didn't matter weather you were a trainee or in one of the elite squads, Levi was in charge and you did as he said. He was wearing his little cleaning uniform with a handkerchief on his head, and another around his neck. 'Heh, he looks like a cute little angry cleaner in that.' You thought to yourself. 'Wait- what am I saying??? Did I just say I thought the Captain looked cute???' You hesitated before thinking continuing down this line of thought. 'Well... He kind of does I suppose...'

You were assigned to the job of cleaning the mess hall, along with Eren, Armin, and Jean. 'This isn't going to go well...' You thought. You all got your cleaning supplies and headed to the hall. It was always messy seen as everyone ate here. Not to mention the occasional squad parties that were also held in this room.

You were cleaning around the table near the front of the hall when you heard a crash. "Ah! Watch where your going titan!" You heard Jean shout. "Says you horse face!" Replied Eren. You and Armin just looked at eachother, both of you knew what was going to happen next... And you were right, Jean threw a punch at Eren and he blocked it. Eren tried to kick Jean and so he grabbed Eren's foot and toppled him over, onto the floor. Then Eren got straight back up and tried to punch Jean in the stomach. You decided this would be a good time to do something, instead of just watching. "Come on (f/n)! We have to say something to stop them!" Said Armin frantically. You thought for a brief moment, then shouted "Hey, look, it's Mikasa!" Suddenly Jean and Eren froze and looked at the door, there was no one there so they then turned their attention to looking for you. You were gone, so they thought. You had sneaked up behind them and suddenly you smacked them both on the head with a duster. "Hey! (f/n)!" Said Eren. "What did you do that for?" Complained Jean. "To stop you from acting like idiots." You said plainly with a serious look on your face. "If the Captain found out you were so immature that you can't even work together responsibly, then he'd have you both mucking out the horses for the next month." They both looked at eachother and separated. Your face became less serious, "Let's just get the rest of the cleaning done, okay?" Armin came over to you, he had been watching this whole thing. "Quick thinking (f/n)." He said. "Thanks Armin." you replied. Everyone returned to their cleaning work and after another two hours of scrubbing the hall was clean.

"Hmm... No sign of the run away rabbit." You joked as you were heading back to your room. Some people were still cleaning because the Captain said their work wasn't good enough. Luckily for Eren and Jean, he didn't find out about the fight. Neither did Mikasa which was probably for the best.

There was to be a survival training exercise soon. You'd be in separate groups and have to make your way to a campsite where you'd spend the night. For this reason, training tomorrow was fire lighting, horse riding, and hunting. Although the you were quite good with animals, you were better on your maneuver gear than on horseback. So practice was probably for the best. You could light a fire just fine though and as long as you were in a group with Sasha you didn't have to worry about catching food. "Hmm." You muttered.
