Chapter IX

The next morning came, and I woke up by myself... No nightmares, huh?

"Good morning Princess. I made breakfast for you." Aki looked at me and I could imagine that he was smiling softly.

"Good morning..." I answered and looked at the table, which was full of food and drink. Milk, cereals, coffee, bread, butter, sausages and way too much to count.

"Did you sleep well?" Aki asked.

"Yeah... Can't complain..." I sat down at the table. "Let's eat?"

"Sure." He sat at the kitchen table down and I looked surprised at him, which was really far away from me.

"Err... What are you doing? I thought you'd sit at the table down..." I looked at him shaking his head.

"I am not of status to share the same table as you use." He turned his back to me.

Guess he was still a bit mad at me from yesterday. He told me he wasn't, because of his job to comfort me, but a person can't forgive anyone within some hours. Especially because he told me he was worried.

But, it's his job to worry too, isn't it? So, in fact, he shouldn't feel anything, should he? So this means, he's not mad at me, is he?

I shook my head in confusion.

"Is everything alright?" He asked.

"... Yeah." Guess in fact he didn't want to take the mask off. That's what it is all about.

"I don't want to be rude, but could you hurry up with eating?" Aki said after a while.

"Why? Afraid to be late?" I asked and looked at the clock.

"Yes. Actually." He answered and looked at the clock as well.

"And, why can't we skip the day?" I asked again and he sighed.

"Because we can't. We will go to school today since it's the second day. And besides, I will find out what happened yesterday." He looked at me.

I kept quiet and took my shoes on:"I'm ready."

"Me too..." Suddenly he was behind me and I did my best not to get startled. "You don't like the thought of going to school, huh?"

"No." I answered shortly and hoped that the day would pass fast. Hope dies always last, right?

"Oi, Virginia!" The sharp voice of Shira's sharp voice pierced the silence I've been enjoying during my break.

"What is wrong Shira?" I asked as I looked up to her. Actually, she shouldn't have been here, because the roof is forbidden for pupils. And how did she know I was up here?

"Aki is worrying about you. How close friends are you?" She asked.

"Not close at all. We live in the same apartment because it's cheaper like this. But that's all." This is a real problem and a pain to discuss with her. Literally a pain.

"Tell me the truth!" She stepped with her foot on my stomach causing me to gasp.

"This is the truth...! Ask him yourself...!" I struggled under her weight, because she looked like she was weighing for about 60 kilograms, but it sure felt heavier!

"Ok. I will." She put more weight on her foot and my food found its way up again causing me to vomit. She watched me laughing and walked after a time off.

Sadly enough, my complete uniform top was covered now with something that used to be my lunch.

I sat up and started to wipe it off. I wasn't disgusted by it, but I knew I couldn't sit down in class with this.

"Virginia! Where are you?" I heard Aki screaming my name around, searching for me. But I didn't want him to see me like this. So I kept quiet, took my bag out and was grateful that I packed Kuroko's diary in as a good luck charm, which failed a bit at this a good luck charm. But now I had all the time I needed to read it. I opened the diary at the second day, and started to read.

>>Dear Diary,

Today is the second day and I turned my plan into action. I asked Vivi out to my favorite place, a waterfall with a cave. My, ok, now it is our secret hide out.

Once she entered the cave, she smiled happily. Such a beautiful smile. She instantly let small flames appear in her actual small fingers, (I never noticed her small sweet hands before) and burned some beautiful ornaments in the walls, and now we agreed to make tomorrow some lamps together and put in there some candles so that the cave is brighter. I honestly can't wait for tomorrow anymore, because I know that she will help me out, or I her. I dunno. We never tinkered together before. So I honestly don't know, who is more skilled at it. But I think it is her, because she really loves small details.

And when she is around me, I can protect her as best as possible, because if it something should go wrong, she can hide inside the cave, while I distract the attacker.

I...am an orphan actually... Vivi's parents told me, that when Vivi was old enough to walk around, she found me. Blood covered and barely alive on the grass, near the house of them.

My first memory started, when I woke up. A small, sweet girl, maybe one year old girl, was holding herself on the bed and walked step by step, still holding onto the bed up to me.

At first I was afraid, but when I saw her smile, and her small fox ears twitched happily. She touched my forehead with her small hand and told me something, but I couldn't understand it, because these weren't any real words. But the way she smiled was so sweet, but there was something odd about her hand. It was way too warm...

In return I pretended to pat her head and "accidentally" touched her forehead. It was burning hot. I picked her gently up and she instantly snuggled up to me. She was burning hot. I left my room and looked around for a maid or a butler. But nobody was there.

After searching for a short time around I decided to stop my search and go into the kitchen. Strangely I remembered a tea, which should help to bring a fever down.

I sat the small girl on a chair and held a wet towel to her forehead, telling her to hold it there.

I started to make the tea, when I noticed her strength fading and that she was about to fall down. I picked her up again and tied her with an apron to my stomach, so that she could hold onto me, and I could catch her in time. When I was about to finish the tea, the parents of the small girl entered the kitchen. I explained that she has a high fever, and needs to drink the tea, and they actually listened to it.

They even allowed me to give her the tea, in a baby bottle. After she drank it, they introduced themselves as the parents of the young girl and the young girl was no one else than Vivi.

And so, the parents made me Vivi's personal bodyguard. At the age of 4 I had a destiny again. But I think, I used to have another one as well, where else could I have known such a recipe already?

This is confusing. It feels like I was a robot back then. Not a Kitsune. Like I was destined to do this. But I didn't care about my old fate. I knew, I wanted this one. And I don't regret it...<<

Before I finished reading it, my heavy eyelids interfered and I couldn't help but to close them for some seconds... And it ended into sleep.
