Chapter XV

The fight didn't last long, luckily. And we were also lucky since our clan didn't lose too many people and just small damage was made. While we were building up our village, Kuroko never left my side.

"Kuroko, I won't disappear ever again" I giggled and he looked at me.

"I know, I know, but I enjoy the feeling of us being so close together..." He whispered into my ear.

I felt my cheeks heat up and I averted my gaze from him.

"Cutie... Look at me..." Kuroko whispered into my ear and I tried to concentrate onto the repairs. "Look at me..." He poked my cheek and I looked at him.

"We should concentrate on repairing the damage... You know...-!" While I was trying to argue with him, he simply kissed me instead of answering.

"I know... So, let's finish and then we will announce the village our relationship and that I have the most beautiful fiancée of everyone. You." He whispered lowly into my ear. I felt my ears lay back out of shyness and I looked away in order to hide my blushing red face.

"Look at me sweetheart..." He whispered and before I had the chance to look at him a small, crying Kitsune kid ran up to us.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I kneeled down and looked at the small girl. Small... Fragile... She had white fur, and yet black fox ears... what an unique combination...

"I can't...find my mommie or daddie..." The girl sobbed and I hugged her. I started to concentrate and noticed that the scent was leading to two corpses which have been holding hands together. Poor girl... She was an orphan... I instantly looked at Kuroko. He looked at me and then into the direction of the corpses.

"Well... Little girl... What is your name?" I asked her and she looked at me, tears running down her small, red cheeks.

"I'm... I'm Mari..." She sobbed and hiccupped.

"A very sweet name for a very sweet girl..." I whispered as I licked her tears away. A very common behaviour, when a young Kitsune cried, you didn't wipe the tears away, you licked them away. Since the tongue tickled it made every kid smile.

"And...my parents....?" The girl, didn't smile yet, but at least... she stopped crying...

"They're on a place far far far away... But they will always watch from above..." Kuroko whispered softly and the girl hugged me tighter and cried again.

"But if you would agree... My fiancée would like to adopt you" Kuroko patted the small girl as she was clinging onto me. She was trembling and nodded slightly, barely noticeable.

"Then we should make ourselves a new home together!" I suggested in a cheerful voice.

"That's a great idea! So let's sit down and we will sketch our new home together!" Kuroko got pencils and papers.

Mari simply nodded and watched Kuroko with interested eyes.

"You will marry our princess right?" Mari asked and looked from Kuroko to me and back to Kuroko.

"Yes, and you will be along with your future sisters and brothers a princess too!" Kuroko smiled at Mari and then at me.

"B-Brothers and Sisters...?" I asked and my cheeks flushed red.

"Yay! The more the better!" Mari smiled and so I couldn't disagree to their shining eyes.

"And tonight the princess and her prince will take a bath together, right?" Kuroko looked at me and I nodded.

"And where will I stay meanwhile?" Mari asked.

"With my parents... I mean... I'm sure they are curious to see our small princess!" I liked the sound of calling Mari, my adoptive daughter, a princess.

"And they will like me surely....?" Mari asked.

"Of course..." Together we walked to my parents. After explaining the situation with them they were happy and started to play games with Mari.

"Let's go..." Kuroko whispered into my ear and so we easily snuck out of the house. At the hot springs he swiftly took his clothes off and sat down inside one of the hot springs.

"Come here my sweetie..." He looked at me. Slowly, I took my clothes off as well and sat next to him down.

"I'm so glad that our nightmare ended..." I whispered and leaned my head onto his shoulder.

"Yeah... Finally" He whispered.

"I can't wait to see our future..." I answered.

"Yeah... But no matter what... It will beautiful... Because I have you at my side..." He sealed my lips with a kiss and so we relaxed together in the hot spring... Enjoying the peaceful moment and looking forward to our future...
