The Hidden Forest

Chapter 6

I ran through the island, sticks scratching at my ankles and blood dripping from my cheek. "You can't run from me" a voice said from behind me. "I'm everywhere" her voice was coming from every direction and I felt trapped. I stopped and started spinning looking around me. "Run Nicole"  "do it for Linzy" she mocked and I felt a sharp pain on my cheek.

I dropped to the ground and quickly began pulling myself forward. "Don't run Nicole"  "we only just met" I was on all fours and trying to find my way out. Some thing hit my stomach and I dropped again. "Linzy must be very disappointed. You were supposed to save her"

This wasn't the Old lady's voice. But a much younger one. It sounded like a teenagers voice. "A-Agnise?" I stuttered holding onto my stomach. "Oh I'm not Agnise" She laughed "I'm her mother's miscarriage."

I gasped and quickly began pulling myself forward again. "I want my necklace Nicole" I felt another pain on my back and I was back on the ground. "N-no! S-stop" I shouted.

"Don't fight it" Linzy appeared in front of me in the darkness again. "You know you have the gift"  "now use it"

I jumped up and ran, ignoring the pain coming from my stomach. "Give it to me" she shouted. I ran again and all of a sudden I imagined long vines helping me. I would have powers and won't have to worry about the situation I was in now.

Then it happened.

Vines from the trees ran to the ground and under my feet. I was lifted up so I was above the trees. And the vines made a perfect path. I ran down them until I came to an end and the vines let me down.

There was a big stone wall in front of me with a necklace shape carved into it. I digged in my pocket and pulled out the necklace. pushing it against the carving, I waited for nothing to happen. But something did.

The wall opened and I was now staring into a passageway. "Give it to me!" She shouted again.

There was no escape. She would follow me everywhere. Linzy was gone. My parents were probably crying. I was alone. I'm stuck in a fairytale and I was just picked up by vines and carried to whatever stood in front of me. And to top it all there was a crazy girl behind me.

Tears streamed down my face. "this is for Linzy!"

I ran in the passageway until I reached a long waterfall with vines running down from the ceiling and into the water. I closed my eyes and jumped into the water. I opened them once I was in there. Linzy was in front of my face. And this time it was real. She grabbed both my hands and smiled at me. "I love you" she said but I still didn't understand how she said it so clearly. Before I could answer she was gone and so were the vines. I got up and looked around "l-linzy please....d-dont leave m-me again" "I-I love you"

I sobbed uncontrollably and sat down on the side with my knees against my chest. I screamed and cried and waited for someone to help. No body came. It was just me. I was alone. I had no food. No friends and no company. "I'm right here" her voice echoed in my mind from when I had first seen her since she died.

"No........Your not"
