I hummed quietly as I brushed Boe's long blonde hair. We had found the brush in an old cupboard and we washed it with the fresh water we had from the rain the previous night.
"Mommy?" Boe said moving on the small stool. "Yes sweetheart?" I asked brushing a long curl. "When will we be home?"
I lifted the brush, thinking about what my answer would be. Would I go home? Would I move into another country and start over? Would I let my parents think I'm dead after the week I'd been here?
"soon baby" I brushed down her curls again "soon"
"Hey I'm back!" Londie shouted from the front door. She walked through the passageway and found us in the one empty room. We didn't realise there was a passageway until Londie pulled a small lever on a shelf. It opened a long passageway filled with empty rooms.
She walked into the room smiling and holding a bucket.
I looked down at the bucket filled with water "it came from the rain last night." She said setting the bucket down and walking to us.I smiled putting the brush down on the small counter and helping Boe out of the chair. We kept trying to find out what was wrong with her arms but nothing helped.
"Arent the leaves working?" Londie asked gently taking Boe's hand and looking at her arm "mama gave it to me" she said looking down "she shocked me"
I gasped looking at Londie with wide eyes. Londie looked stressed as she let go of Boe's hand. I walked to Boe and picked her up. I walked out the door and grabbed the bucket with my free hand. Londie followed behind me as we got out of the passageway and were back by the fireplace.
"What if she comes back Londs?" I asked her, laying Boe down on the couch. "I don't know Nicole.....We just need to focus on keeping Boe safe" she grabbed the bucket from me and walked outside.
She came in a few minutes later looking stressed "please tell me your sure that this is your daughter"
I looked down at Boe hopefully "I'm sure"
She was definitely mine. She was so beautiful. Her blonde hair falling slightly her eye, her chest rising up and down every time she took a breath, her long eye lashes resting on her cheek.
"Then we only need to find a way to get home" she said."But we can't swim all the way there. It's to far" I reminded her, picking up Boe and balancing her on my hip."we can build some boat" I suggested. "But still. Mama might follow us there"
"Well shouldn't Boe have your power?" She asked walking closer and looking at Boe sleeping quietly on my shoulder. "I only realised I could do that 4 days ago" I said stroking my daughters long hair.
She nodded thinking "well I don't know how we can get home....We haven't seen our parents and you just realised you have a child...should we even go back?" Londie asked looking down.
"You know what......no....We need new lives with new people"
