'Please remind me where we are going again, (Y/N)?' Vorstag's heavily accented voice sounded from behind you.

'Solitude, remember?' you droned, 'it's not even that far away!'
The pair trudged through the underbrush, weeds sticking to their boots. The journey was heavy going and constantly interrupted by the uncomfortable whines from Vorstag.

'I know your the Dragonborn and all, but do you really have to walk that fast?'

You blushed, 'Just come on!' you laughed.

~~

Slowly, the sun sank beneath the tree line - leaving the forests and hills to be consumed by thick, cold, eery darkness. Your footsteps echoed as you plodded along.

'Vorstag?' you yelled, turning around. No one. 'Vorstag?'

Suddenly, a loud, thumping sound erupted from the trees. You ducked down and unsheathed your sword warily.

Vorstag crashed into view - covered from head to foot in mud and burrs. Your heart sank back down from your throat in relief.

'Where did you go?' you whined, 'I got really worried!'

'Well I thought I saw you down the hill so I went after you, but then I realised it was a bear, killed it, then found the real you,' Vorstag panted.
You took in your surroundings as he caught his breath; inky blackness with the occasional tree.

'Slight problem,' you murmered.

'Huh?'

'I haven't got the slightest clue where we are,' you huffed - giving up - and sat down cross-legged on the ground.
'Well let's set up camp then, yeah?' Vorstag smiled, holding out his hand for you to take. You looked from his shining, deep eyes and back to his hand. You took it gently, blushing.

~~

'Who's taking the first shift?' you asked, sitting neatly in the shelter you made next to Vorstag.

'I will - you go get some rest,' Vorstag got to his feet and stood by the shelter doorway. You lay back - watching Vorstag patrol until you fell asleep.

~~

You woke up slowly to someone poking you awake.

'(Y/N)! Wake up!' Vorstag's familiar voice rang out. Vorstag had sat, barely awake, outside the den for hours until he thought was an alright time to stop.

~~

(Y/N) opened her eyes slowly to me poking her awake. I didn't want to wake her up too suddenly - seeing as she looked so peaceful and beautiful whilst sleeping with her hair falling over her face...

'Your shift now,' I murmered, distracting myself from my thoughts.
'Sure, sure,' she mumbled as she got up reluctantly. The (Y/R) woman got up and sat outside. I slowly lay down in her place.

~~

I woke up with a jolt to the howls of wolves. The fairly loud howls of wolves... they were close. I reached for my sword, attaching it to my belt securely. Carefully, I sat up, looking for (Y/N). It was still extremely dark outside so it was difficult to navigate my way around the site.

'(YYYYY/N),' I whisper-shouted, waving my arms out in front of me in preparation for any trees.
A faint murmer from the right distracted me. I rushed over as fast as I could - nearly tripping over a figure curled up on the ground.

(Y/N). I took her carefully in my arms and carried her into the den. She just looked so peaceful - even when you find her lying outside in the cold. Her hair covering her eyes - shielding her angelic yet hardened features...
'(Y/N)?' I shook her gently awake. Her eyes fluttered open.

~~

My eyes fluttered open. Vorstag - sitting over me in the dark.
'Sorry - it's just tha-'

'No, thank you,' I smiled at him.

'You were ju-'

'Shh,' I placed a finger to his full lips, 'I said thank you, you skeever!' I winked.

Vorstag lay down - his armour creasing as he moved. He turned his head so he was facing me.

'Do you want to hear a story about how a skeever saved my life?' he chuckled - looking up through the branches and into the night sky.
