CHAPTER 6

What have we discovered children? That half vampire’s drink blood. Even though we already knew this, it still comes as a surprise.

“You mean I have to drink it?” Nicole asked.

Carlisle nodded.

Nicole made a funny face that made Edward laugh for what seemed like the first time in weeks. I smiled, my brother laughing means he was semi-happy.

“Just try it, love,” Edward said.

Nicole smiled a small, nervous smile and did as she was told. She took the straw between her lips and slurped.

“You know, after you get over the fact that you’re drinking blood, it’s not too bad,” she said.

We all watched in amazement as her skin, which had turned a pasty gray, began to change back into its normal shade of ivory.

TWO WEEKS LATER

Edward was truly happy now that his girlfriend was getting better, and that’s all we'd hoped for. We weren’t sure when Nicole was going to pop. However, it looked to be any day. I was worried about the birth nobody had fed in a while. In the middle of all this, Seth was all I could think about. It didn’t help that Jake constantly had him running patrol and when he wasn’t running, he was sleeping. There wasn’t much Edward could keep me busy with, well at least my mind. I thought of him 24/7 Edward told me I even dreamed about him. 

“Lilly!” Edward shook me awake.

“Huh, what?” I asked, then I frowned, Edward just woke me up from a really nice dream. Key word again.

“Urg!” I cried. “Why'd you do that?!”

“You were doing it again,” he said with an innocent expression.

“If I can’t see him at least let me think about him,” I said, crossing my arms and tears stinging in my eyes.

I got up as quickly as I could and went into the kitchen to look for food. The amount of normal food was low. Nobody wanted to go into town and face Sam’s pack, not when we were so close to proving they were wrong. I searched the cupboards, but found nothing I wanted. I heard footsteps enter the kitchen, my first thought was Edward. He was probably coming in to check on me to make sure I haven’t run away or anything.

“Go away,” I sneered, as I continued to look for something to eat.

“I was just coming in to ask you something,” Seth's intoxicating voice said.

I jumped up from searching the bottom cupboard.

“Hey!” I said, small smile lighting up my face

“I was wondering,” he said, taking a few steps closer to me. “If you wanted to go see a movie tonight, Jake thinks he and Leah can hold down the border for a few hours, so what do you think?” he asked.

I waited for Edward to come in with his arms crossed and answer for me but he never did. I could tell it was making Seth worry.

“I would love to,” I finally answered.

Seth let out a huge sigh. “So tonight at 7?” he asked.

I nodded.

“Seth!” I heard Jake yell.

“I got to go, but I’ll see you later,” he said.

Then he did something I didn’t expect; he kissed my cheek. However, it was only my cheek. The spot where he kissed me tingled. A huge smile broke out across my face.

“Yeah, later,” I whispered.

Seth went out the back door. I ran to the living room in inhuman speed and took the remote from Emmett. I quickly changed it to Spongebob.

“Really, Lilly pad? Cartoons?” Em said.

“Cartoons are a very important part of American culture for teenagers so. Nuh!” I said sticking my tongue out at him.

“Very mature, Lil.”
