Hey guys! This is the chapter where I'm hoping it gets better, so keep reading! Just FYI, I keep doing a POV because later in the story it will be from other character's POV.
Quote of the day is:<<"Life isn't about finding yourself, it's about creating yourself."-George Bernard Shaw. >>

Opal's POVOh. My. Gosh. It was a complete madhouse. It was everything I thought walking through the front doors would be like.
Girls were squealing and hugging each other, guys were fist bumping and smacking each other into lockers. Smaller kids that looked like seventh graders were looking up at everything in fear. Just like me.
I took a deep breath, and started down the hallway to find my locker. Number 848. Other girls by my locker were hanging chandlers and wallpaper in theirs, while mine was just sad and empty.
I turned the knob to my numbers hoping I could get it right this time. Thankfully I did. I put my backpack inside, and took out my A day binder. My first class of the day was English.
I shut my locker, but then realized I left my phone inside. I know we aren't supposed to have them, but I thought it might be safe to have it just for the first day. You know, in case I don't....survive...and need to call my mom.
I opened it again, grabbed my phone and slipped it in my pocket, when I heard a voice say "Hi!" cheerfully.
I turned my head to see a girl about my height, with auburn hair, black glasses, and light freckles sprinkled across her nose. She was wearing a red shirt, tucked into a skirt with an orange and yellow floral design on it. She wore some super cute gray boots.
"Oh...hi." I said, surprised someone was actually talking to me in the first five minutes I was here.
"Looks like you forgot something and had to open your locker again." she said with a laugh.
"Oh yeah, just..... my English notebook." I lied. She could've been from the student council, and if I told her I was bringing my phone to class, she could get me in trouble.
She raised her eyebrow at me. "don't worry, I know you got your phone. No one, including me, is gonna tell on you. Kids do it all the time."
Relief flooded me. "Phew!" I said. She laughed.
"My names Rose." She said. "I haven't seen you around before. You new here?"
"Uh, yeah sorta."
"Cool, you're gonna like it here." She said. But she seemed a little hesitant to say that.
"My names Opal. " I said.
"That's a pretty name! Like the birthstone?" she said.
"Yeah."
"Cool! And my name is just a flower." She said.
"Rose is a pretty name." I said. "better that flower, then Dandelion or something."
She laughed again. "well, how about we meet up for lunch? You can come sit with me and my friends."
I didn't know what to say to that. Rose seemed really nice, so her friends must be nice too. At least, I hope.
"Sure!" I said.
"Sweet! see ya then!" she said right as the bell rang. She then shut her locker, which I guess is right next to mine.
I started down the hallway to English. Lets hope this day goes well, I thought to myself.
•••••
My first class, English, was ok I guess. The teacher was named Mr. Brooks, and was a bald guy, who thought he was really funny, but wasn't.
Next period I had History, and there was this girl named Lexi Andersen in that class. She seemed really popular, because I'd seen her in the halls before, and everyone wanted to talk to her. All I could hear was,
"Hey Lexi! Cute skirt!"
"Hey Lex! You doing anything after school?"
"Lexi! wanna eat lunch at my table today?"
"Hi Lexi! I love your hair today!"
It got pretty annoying.
Some people, she talked to a lot, and you could tell they were popular too, just because she talked to them. And the people who talked to her, but she ignored, you could tell that they weren't so popular. I didn't talk to her at all. In fact, they only person I'd talked to so far was Rose.
Lexi also had a ton of boys flirting with her. She was really pretty. She had dirty blond hair running down her back in loose curls. Her outfits looked designer.
After History was lunch. I found Rose, and we went outside and sat down at a table with a bunch of other kids, who I guessed were Rose's friends.
"Hey guys. This is Opal, she's new here, and is gonna hang out with us."
They all said hi to me, then introduced themselves. Maddie, who was wearing a beanie with her hair down and sweatshirt, looked like a tomboy. But her twin sister Addie was the total opposite. Then there was Mitchell, who was on the school's football team. Abigail, was a cheerleader, and seemed a little bratty. But she was nice enough. Then there was Andy, a really funny kid with bright red hair.
And the last one was Bryce. He was my favorite so far. He had light brown hair, which was put into a foe hawk. He was wearing a navy jacket. When he introduced himself, he said "'sup. I'm Bryce" all cutely.
The rest of lunch everybody cracked up at Andy's jokes, and I learned that Maddie and Addie like to fight. A lot.
This day was going well so far. Way better than I expected.
