Opal's POV
Life went on and I felt a little bit better about my Junior High experience after hearing advice from Rose. But it wasn't as easy as she made it seem.
I was having a lot of trouble with the science project, mainly because my partner wasn't helping me. I asked Lexi one day in science if we could get together to work on it, but she replied "No, I'm just too busy."
Yeah, right. "busy". She is trying Po hard to be popular. I wish she could understand that people who aren't popular still need help with things.
At lunch I still ate with Rose's group of friends, and each day I began to like Bryce, the cute one, more and more. He was so sweet, and funny. Everything he said would make me laugh, which isn't exactly good because I have the loudest laugh in the world.
I also learned more about him. He loves basketball, lacrosse, and snowboarding. He's the youngest of 4 kids, and 2 are in college. He's good at science, but math is his worst subject. He thinks being a geneticist would be interesting. When he was a kid, he was bright blond and it somehow morphed into light brown.
It's kinda funny, but I remember everything he's said to me since we met. I just love talking to him!
One day at lunch, I had my binder and writing notebook with me as we ate and talked. I guess the notebook was exposed a little, because the next thing I knew, Maddie snatched it off of my binder before I could grab it.
She definitely was a nosy person, and just started flipping through the pages. "Wow! Did you write these Opal?"
"No! I mean yes. Kinda of. C'mon, give it back!" I tried to grab it but Maddie pulled it away.
"Guys look at these!" She said showing everyone else.
No no no no no I didn't want anyone to see my writing! It was goofy and weird, sort of like a diary, but not. I just wasn't ready to show anyone else.
"You're so great at writing!" Rose said. "Why haven't you shown me these?"
"Um.. I don't know, I just like it to myself I guess.."
I wanted to hide into a hole when Bryce started to look through the notebook. I had to end this.
"Guys, give it back!" I grabbed it from Maddie's hands.
"Sorry, we just thought they were really good. Have you shown them to Miss Newsbury?" She said. Miss Newsbury was the creative writing teacher.
"Not exactly." I replied. I put the notebook under my binder and ate the rest of my lunch in silence. Did the really like it? Or were they secretly making fun of it?
Bryce's POV
Opal seemed like a really nice, a creative person. I'm really glad Rose decided to be her friend. She's really pretty, too. I always try to be funny around her because I love her laugh and smile.
I guess she used to be home schooled before she came here. It was pretty easy to tell, especially when she sat with us on the first day. The look of terror on her face showed it all.
After I read some of the stuff in that notebook of hers, I could already tell she was a creative person. With pictures, and words. Most people aren't like that, they are just good with one.
I wanted to get to know her more. She clearly wasn't like most girls at this school.
