Opals POV

I can't believe it. I cannot believe it.

I survived.

And I didn't even have to call mom once! And I'd already made some friends! Maybe things wouldn't be as bad as I expected...things were looking great from here on out!

When I got home, mom smothered me in hugs.

"Oh Opal! How was it? Do you like it? Have you made any friends? Were you able to get to your classes alright? Did your locker open?" She exclaimed

"Whoa, mom, slow down! Everything was fine, I had a good day." I replied.

"Really?! I'm so glad to hear you say that!"

What was she expecting? That I come home balling with tears? Then again, that's what I was expecting from myself too.

"Ok, well, I have some homework to do, so I'm gonna go outside and work on it in the treehouse." I said.

"Ok honey! And if you need help with anything, feel free to ask me!" She replied.

I took my homework and walked outside. Ahhhhhhh, the day was still as beautiful as it was when I left for school. I breathed in the fresh air.

I climbed up the ladder to the treehouse, and started on my homework. But it was hard to concentrate. I was so happy I'd made some friends. Would Rose let me sit with them again tomorrow? I hoped so. Andy was so funny, and Maddie and Addie fought with each other a lot and that was pretty entertaining.

And Bryce.... man I liked him. The first thing I noticed when I met him, was his eyes. They were a beautiful green, and when they looked at me I felt like melting.

Wow. Was this my first crush? So much new things for me, and just from starting public school. And I loved it.

I woke up the next morning to that annoying alarm clock again. I tried to convince mom to let me wake up on my own, but she didn't trust me that I wouldn't fall back asleep.

I ate a quick breakfast, and headed out the door. Mom drove me on the first day, because I was nervous and not ready to go on the bus yet. But now I was.

I walked down the dirt road, surrounded my trees, and eventually came to the little street corner that led to the city. That's where my bus stop was.

I waited about 5 minutes there, when a big, yellow school bus came around the corner. It stopped in front of me, and the doors opened. I walked up the steps.

It was a loud bus. I eventually found a place that I could sit alone, because I didn't know anyone here.

We took off, away from the little street corner.

After a couple more stops, we stopped at one more, where several people came on. And the last one I recognized. From those beautiful green eyes.

Bryce?! Oh no. What if I looked bad? It was kinda windy outside, so what if it messed up my hair?!
