Suddenly, Isaiah had an idea that he just needed to share. "Guys, if Genna found her powers in anger and the rest of us were scared than maybe we need to have a big emotion."
Marla jumped at an opportunity and wasted no time, "Genna!," she shouted. The second that Genna's attention was on her, she continued "Fight me."
Genna jumped into a taekwondo stance ready to fight "You're on!"
Marla puts herself in the position she saw Genna holding and put her guard up to start sparring with Genna. Marla threw a weak punch, not wanting to actually hurt Genna, but she blocked it with full force and Marla now saw that this was not going to be a game. Marla swung again this time with full force. Now the match had really begun. No words were spoken, but there were no words to be spoken. Everyone knew that Marla could hold her ground against anyone, but Genna was the one with actual martial arts training. As they fought that became more clear. Genna blocked, swung and maneuvered in skilled, practiced motions, almost like a weaving dance. Marla, on the other hand, obviously wasn't thinking. It was more of action and reaction to her, where she tried hard to see everything and feel nothing, leaving all her emotions until the very end.
After a while of fighting Marla finally landed a punch. It came on straight to Genna's shoulder, hard. Genna flinched and backed up a few steps. Not willing to give up so quick she retracted her arm for a punch just as great as the one she had received. Clenching her fist in a tight ball, a flame sparked and ignited her hand spreading the fire up her arm. Everyone was caught off guard by what had just happened. Staring at the beautiful fire in Genna's hand Marla, paralyzed, was not able to see that she was ready to strike. Then it happened.
Not realizing what it would do Genna hit Marla right in the core. Marla was knocked back with a trail of embers leading from her body; and before a second went by she was on the ground, yards away from Genna. Everyone rushed to Marla to help her; Hannah, on the other hand, ran to Genna to hopefully calm her down.
"Marla, oh my goodness!" Autumn said rushing over. "She didn't hurt you too bad, did she?"
"No," Marla answered "I'm fine." But she wasn't so fine. A darkness had clouded her thoughts. All Marla was thinking was how could she hurt her that much. Marla stood up blank faced, trying to clear her mind. "Well, I see you found your spark."
"Dude!" Genna screamed. "Are you okay?!"
"I'm..." She paused to silence the ringing in her head "...fine."
"I really didn't mean to hit you that hard," She covered her hand with the other not to do it again. "I didn't even know that I used my powers."
A long silence fell over the group as they waited for Marla's response. A response that would never come. All anyone saw was that she had her eyes closed for a few seconds. Thinking, they assumed. Isaiah came in to get a better look at Marla, thinking he could help her more this way. Suddenly, Marla opened her eyes to reveal cat eyes. Isaiah jumped back, only to scatter to his feet in fright of Marla.
