"What're we supposed to do?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Blake murmured as he threw a withered glance at the pamphlet in his hands, "Go back to the way things were. Even if they've tracked us, we've gotta get away. Play along, play safely; be spontaneous, risk danger."

I could feel my brow knit together, "What'd you mean?"

"What I mean is that there's a good chance that they probably spotted us. We were careless, and now we have to pay the price. So what I'm saying is remain in the public eye; a little more prominent then usual will do. They'll hesitate and that's when the ball rolls back into our court." Blake then chuckled thinking about how his words could also have a double meaning to them.

Vivanna held her breath as she walked along the corridors of her school; the weight of the other teenagers bemused gazes threatened to suffocate her, but she attempted to pay them no heed.

She was here for herself.

Not for them.

They could judge her, it didn't matter. They didn't matter.

No one matters.

Vivanna sighed and swallowed a lump in her throat, "I've done worse," she thought to herself and pulled open her locker.  She swivelled her head once she heard a gasp sound behind her.

"Vi-vivanna? Is that you?"

Oh shit.

Vivanna sighed softly once more and turned around towards her best friend. Thalia stood in the middle of the hallway with her hands covering her mouth, by her side stood Rhonda whose countenance flashed from one that held bewilderment to one of pure, unadulterated rage. She stormed towards Vivanna and simply spat out the word, "Explain."  Vivanna internally groaned. She didn't want to go through all of this. She didn't need to have to do that; it was so purposeless.

But she loved Rhonda, no matter how fake she was to her; the girl held a place in her heart.

"Umh, er..." Vivanna trailed off, "I went to visit my aunt in Oregon."

"In Oregon?! You went to visit your aunt in Oregon!?" Rhonda shouted, "Last heard you were visiting your uncle in Conneticut!" Vivanna visibly cringed at the tone of her voice. Rhonda was an emotional person, she knew that. Rhonda had been deeply hurt by her actions, Vivanna knew that too.

But sometimes you had to do things that hurt others.

Sometimes pain was required.

"Uh...well..."

Rhonda fumed, "Don't even try to give me an excuse! Isaiah told me that you were cooped up in your room all day and that you refused to see anyone!"

Damn that kid and his innocence.

"Rhonny, I'm sor-" but before Vivanna could utter a word Rhonda held up a hand, spat out, "Save it, Vivanna," and had turned on her heel and stormed away. Vivanna sighed and turned towards Thalia, a hopeful expression glinting on her visage, "Thalia?"

But Thalia's eyes brimmed with confusion, pain and contrition."I'm sorry, Vivanna," she gazed into her eyes, "But you can't blame us. We came searching for you everyday. We tried getting in contact with you in the craziest ways. We tried everything and not once did you even send us a message telling us that you were okay."
