Chapter Twenty Two: Burshed Words.

Status: Not edited (when is it ever, haha)

“We don't live through life only by our own experiences, we live through life with other people's experience as a reference too.”

― Nike Thaddeus

Serafina let out a deep breath and focused on the target before her before she raised her gun and shot it three times, straight in its center. She smirked at her flawless aim before she turned towards Matteo and sighed. "We're going to need new guns, Teo," she said, "They'll be using recent models. We can't stick with this shit."

"I've got just the guy to help us with that," he said, "But, you and Leon, eh?"

Serafina who had been aiming the gun at the wall, was startled by the question and suddenly turned towards Matteo, firing her bullet accidentally.

Matteo threw himself out of the bullets path, having grown with quick sense of instinct, before he glared at her,"DIO CANE! ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME, WOMAN?"

"'Sorry, sorry,"' Serafina apologized as she flicked on the safety on the gun, ''Now, stop acting like you've never dodged a bullet before.''

Matteo rolled his eyes and rubbed his arm before he prodded back to her, ''You still haven't answered the question."

"Which question?''

"Are you and Leon together or not?''

Serafina turned to look at him with narrowed eyes, ''Are you and Thalia together or not?'' Matteo's eyes widened for a second before he let out a sigh and folded himself onto the ground. ''I really want to say yes,'' he spoke softly, ''But I can't do that to her. I can't drag her even deeper than she already is.''

''I thought you guys were dating,'' Serafina commented as she seated herself beside the frowning boy, ''I think she does too. I mean, you took her on a date and act like you guys are a couple whenever she's around.'' Matteo's ears flushed red as his cheeks darkened to a similar tone.  ''I do not,"' he argued, ''Plus, I tried talking to her about it. I told her that my college is starting soon so whatever is going on will be short lived.''

''What did she say?''

"She was kind of pissed at first, but she understood later. She said that she doesn't want to tie herself down either, considering the fact that you guys have to go to college in a couple of months. Wait, are you even going to go?''

''I don't know,'' Serafina replied honestly as she folded her arms across her chest, ''I want to, I really do. But, I don't think they'll let me. I don't even need to go, neither did Salvatore. Our tutors made sure that we would be ready for life as soon as possible."

''I wish you could. It's amazing.''

Serafina glanced at Matteo before she sighed, ''Yeah, me too."

It was painfully obvious that Leon had been ignoring Serafina.

Whenever she would walk into a room, he would glare and storm out. She remembered waking up in a tangle of blankets with an empty, cold space besides her.

What she didn't understand was why.

''Hey Serf,'' Harry winked as he launched himself onto her bed and began to type furiously on his laptop, ''You had a nightmare again?''

"How could you tell?''

''Your blankets. You sleep like a slug usually, only tossing and turning when you're reliving your past in your mind.''
