Two-Bit reluctantly pulled the gilded restaurant doors opened. Standing at a pedestal, an elegantly dressed lady greeted him.
"Reservation?" She asked. She started to smile, but quickly stopped when she looked at him closer. "Excuse me, sir," she said in a posh voice. "this restaurant is only for those who can afford it."
He would've gotten angry had he not been so nervous. "Yeah, uh," he scratched the back of his neck. "I can afford it. I'm sorta on a date with a girl, you see-"
"Name?" The lady interrupted him.
"Marcia," he said dreamily. "She's the most wonderful girl in the world. Her hair-"
"What name is your reservations under?" The lady said, gritting her teeth.
"Oh! Uh, Coleman." He said, blushing.
"Follow me," She growled, curtly turning and stomping away.
Two-Bit followed her through countless rooms of upper-class people who wouldn't even bother spitting on such a lower-class-man like him. He tried looking at his feet so he couldn't see anyone staring at him.
"Your table," the lady said, gesturing towards a fully seated table in front of him. Three people sat there. Marcia, who Two-Bit already recognized; a middle aged woman with a lot of sparkling jewelry, who he guessed was Marcia's mom; and a middle aged man with graying hair and a shiny gold watch, who he guessed was Marcia's dad.
"Keith!" The man stood up. "How nice to finally meet you!" He shook Two-Bit's hand. "I'm George."
The woman stood up. "I'm Maya. We've heard so much about you from Marcia!" She kissed Two-Bit's left and right cheek with a loud 'mwah!'. "It's great to finally meet you in person!"
He nodded, blushing. "Yeah, it's great to see you guys, too."
"Have a seat! We were just about to order!" George said.
Two-Bit sat down next to Marcia, who he kissed. "Happy you could come." She whispered.
Two-Bit's nervousness left him a little bit. Maybe this wouldn't be as bad as Two-Bit thought.
---
"So Keith, where do you live?" George asked.
The question came as a complete surprise to Two-Bit. He didn't want Marcia's parents to know he was a Greaser. Should he lie?
"Oh, you know," he said, dodging the question. "Here and there."
"But where?" Maya asked. "The West Side, right?"
"Well," Two-Bit started, but Marcia interrupted him.
"Two-er, Keith, lives a little farther East than we do."
"Oh, you're not one of those East-Side Hoodlums, are you?" George asked.
"No sir!" Two-Bit lied.
"Well, that's a relief!" Exclaimed Maya. "We just couldn't have our daughter dating a...what do the kids call them these days? Greasers?"
He decided to keep his mouth shut. George and Maya started talking about other things, and Two-Bit nodded along quietly.
---
"Sorry about my parents." Marcia apologized once they had left the restaurant. "They're just so...close-minded sometimes."
He nodded. "That's okay." He cocked an eyebrow at her. "As long as you aren't ashamed of me being a Greaser."
"Nope," She hugged him. "I like you just the way you are."
