Random Headcanons: Johnny

• Johnny loves sleeping outdoors. Even when it's cold or raining, he just likes the feel of being closer to nature.

• Johnny is amazing with animals. No one knows how he does it, but he could basically call a wild bear to eat from his hands he's so good.

• Johnny's mother is from Egypt. He's fluent in Arabic, but he doesn't like people to know, because he doesn't like to brag about anything.

• Although Johnny seems quiet, he can be really funny and talkative if he wants to be. When the gang finally gets him to open up and talk to them, Johnny makes them laugh as much as Two-Bit does.

• Johnny is a natural when it comes to gardening. In the grass near the lot, hidden under a big tree, he has his secret garden. It's his biggest secret, since he talks to the plants as he gardens.
"But you won't even believe what Ponyboy said after that! He can be so sassy if he wants to be. He said, and I quote-"Darry, the horse has been beaten. I am Ponyboy. I am the horse. Do you know what that means metaphorically?"
And Darry asked-"What?"
And Ponyboy responded-"That I get your point. Shut up. Oh, I'm sorry, that was disrespectful. Please shut up." And then he left!"
- A conversation Johnny had with his plants.

• Johnny hates belts. He would rather have his pants fall down in public then wear one, because his parents beat him with belts.

• Johnny, as quiet as he is, will protest loudly against alcohol. If Dally is drinking any form of alcohol, Johnny will instantly slap the bottle or glass out of his hand. No matter how bad a mood Dally is in, Johnny hates when he, or anyone, drinks. Johnny's seen what's happened to his mom because of alcohol, and he wants to make sure that doesn't happen to anyone else.

• Besides Ponyboy, Johnny is really close to Darry. Whenever Johnny's dad was beating or ignoring him, Darry would act as a fatherly figure towards him, giving him a place to stay and food to eat. Johnny will be forever grateful for this.

• Johnny hates bugs. As good as he is with animals, he always gets squeamish around insects. If any type of creepy-crawly invades his personal space, he shows them no mercy.

• Johnny catches colds really easily. As a result, he knows all the home remedies for dealing with them, so he can easily help the gang when they get sick. If Sodapop or Ponyboy have a slight cold, and it's nothing really serious, Darry will go to work and leave them in the care of Johnny for a day. When Darry gets back, they'll all be playing football in the yard, perfectly healthy. Johnny always catches a cold after this, though.

And I'm sorry, I had to do this in present tense. I, like Ponyboy, refuse to believe that Johnny is dead. :'(
